Principal's Message

Dear Henry Ford Families,

Without a doubt, after 2 months of Distance Learning, all of our students are on a roll. They have their routines down, and we are seeing progress in so many different ways. I do want to acknowledge that it isn't easy for some students and families. However, everyone seems to have overcome the technology issues and know how to logon and where to go at different times of the day and week. This isn't to say that some folks don't have internet challenges when their server or internet provider is down. But families know where to go or who to call for assistance. Remember, you can always call the School office: 650-482-2404.

Next month you will have the opportunity to meet with your child's teacher to go over your child's progress. You will be asked to select a time and date. Information will be forthcoming in a few weeks. The biggest support you can offer you child is to make certain they are following through on their assignments and signing on at the indicated times. Every day students have work to complete and turn in. Unfortunately, we have a handful of students in every grade level who are not following through with their work. Some students seem to disappear after recess and or lunch. They don't always sign back on. Many parents whom I've spoken with are surprised to hear this. Although a student may be on their computer, it's important to check on your child's progress frequently. If you are uncertain of the work and progress your child is making, don't be shy to send the teacher an email for a brief update. You should not be surprised during your meeting at the first progress report of the year next month.

Also next month, we will have School pictures. Please note that we are working with a new photographer to streamline the process so all our students may be photographed safely. You will simply drive or walk up near the front office, and our photographer will quickly take a few quick pictures of your child. Parents can stay in their car while their child is escorted only a few yards away, has their picture taken, and then hops back into the car. Further information on School pictures will be emailed within the week.

30, Friday, Pumpkin Exhibition — Bring your Jack-O'Lanterns to the front of the School

Mark your calendar for Wednesday, November 4. A schedule will be made available to indicate the time of the day your child's class will be invited to come to School to have their individual pictures taken. It will be simple process done in front of the school. Information will be sent home soon.

Every 3 weeks students are able to check out books. Many of our families have taken advantage of this opportunity. All our students have access to all the books in the School library. Students can open "Cleaver" on their computer and look for "Alexandria." Once a book title is selected, the book is placed on hold for the next book checkout date; October 30 is our next opportunity. Please be sure to return any previously checked out book.
