ALL-IN-4-NB FAMILY NEWSLETTER

FAMILY & COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT

Dear Families,

We hope that you and your family are settled into a routine for learning and for spending quality family time together. We are sharing some resources and strategies for coping with the stresses of our current situation, as well as some easy and entertaining activities for you and your kids!

We would love to hear your feedback and suggestions for future newsletters.

We are here for you!

#AllIn4NB

Let's make this a great week. We challenge you and your family to complete all of these activities this week!

Mystery Monday: Surprise a family member by doing something kind for them without them knowing.

Thoughtful Tuesday: Write about a special memory with a family member and hide it somewhere in the house. Give them clues throughout the day to help them find it.

Wellness Wednesday: Send someone outside of your family a text or give them a call to let them know you appreciate them.

Thankful Thursday: Take a gratitude walk where you live and find 5 things you are each thankful for.

Fun Friday: Play a game with the family. (Check out games you can play with playing cards and dice below!)

The "Ancestor Effect" is the idea that that simply thinking of our ancestors (who were able to overcome serious hardships, such as illness and war) reminds us that we too have the ability to endure and succeed, even when the going gets tough. (https://www.sacap.edu.za/blog/counselling/the-ancestor-effect-psychology-blog/)

During this time of "at-home learning", we encourage you to share stories with your family about your ancestors and possible struggles that they endured. A good question to ask yourself is, "How could we make our ancestors proud?".

You might also have your child call other relatives if possible and ask them to share stories. Write these stories down as a family in a journal so that your children will always have these "treasures".
