The Fabulous Month Of April
When April scatters charms of primrose gold
Among the copper leaves in thickets old,
And singing skylarks from the meadows rise,
To twinkle like black stars in sunny skies;
When I can hear the small woodpecker ring
Time on a tree for all the birds that sing;
And hear the pleasant cuckoo, loud and long --
The simple bird that thinks two notes a song;
When I can hear the woodland brook, that could
Not drown a babe, with all his threatening mood;
Upon these banks the violets make their home,
And let a few small strawberry vlossoms come:
When I go forth on such a pleasant day,
One breath outdoors takes all my cares away;
It goes like heavy smoke, when flames take hold
Of wood that's green and fill a grate with gold.

April is a month of transition. It arrives when winter has just ended and spring is beginning, symbolizing a period of rebirth. Many of us focus on the natural beauty present during the month of April. We hear the birds singing and look aimlessly at the sky after a good thunderstorm for the rainbow and take in the aroma of the first flowers of spring. For many of us April symbolizes youth, newness and promise. William Shakespeare wrote “April hath put a spirit of youth in everything.” April can also stir up memories and prompts reminiscences of the past. Its rains sometimes are described as tears symbolizing the passing of time and the changing of the seasons.
Spring reminds us that for each ending is a new beginning. For those few who touch the divine so briefly through various spiritual experiences, their stories inspire us and give us hope that after the toil and hardship of this life, comes a fresh new beginning in another. The evidence of life after death is all around us, should we have the eyes to see it, the courage to believe it, and the humility to understand the awesome implications for our lives on earth and beyond.
Perhaps it’s time to make the needed changes to let go of things, people or habits that really no longer serve us. This new season give us the empowerment and drive to fully support whatever new expression of self is desired to rebirth and renew from within and without.
There is a lot going on throughout our world at the moment. With the constant chatter on the news or just simple talk among friends or co-workers we are reminded of the things happening around us. Some are stressed, worried and even in panic mode as others try figure out why things are happening. As we ponder and try to understand it is also a reminder that we are all connected in one way or another. What affects one person may have an effect on another. It is a reminder of how precious our health really is and how we need to do our best to stay healthy. A reminder about family and how important home life is and the importance of maintaining and strengthening home life. Take time to reflect during this time. Take time to be you and stay healthy.
Family:
The Month of March was exciting and solemn for our family. Autumn and Spring are without a doubt our favorite times of the year. March was a wet month in our area and while still beautiful we waited patiently for milder temperatures. We finally received a milder March toward the end of the month. While we have a way to go before the warmth of summer it is exciting to watch the rebirth of nature before our eyes. There are buds on the trees and the birds are singing. The early blooms of the dogwood and apple trees are our reminder that spring is in the air. There is nothing greater than nature and all it has to offer. Simply spotting a Wooly Bear Caterpillar while walking with our son as it inches along the dirt near our house. It is fun to see if it has more orange or black on its coat as more orange is an indication of a milder winter and early spring. We have a cat bird that shows up every spring and stays through the summer making its nest in one of the trees in our front yard. When we take our dogs for a walk the cat bird follows us.
Sadness came as my Father-In-Law took ill the early part of February and passed at the beginning of the March. We were very fortunate to be able to see him and sit with him a couple times just prior to his passing. He was a quiet very reserved man with little to say but much in thought. He was honored with full colors for his service in the U.S. Army. While sad we know that he is in a better place and no longer in pain. Our son found some trinkets from his Grandpa’s Army days and is holding on to them dearly.
With spring in the air, the rebirth gives us reason to feel better about ourselves. It gives us reason to feel whole again and enjoy the beauty that surrounds us.
From our family to yours a very happy spring and month of April.
With Love,

The Magic of Flowers
Daisy:
The daisy symbolism captures the traits of youth, love, purity, innocence, freshness, cleanliness, motherhood, chastity and transformation. The daisy flower is a champion of most of the virtues that you can use in your life. As per the name, the word daisy comes from ancient English to mean “the day’s eye.” Moreover, the daisy is one of the few flowers that can close its flowers at night and open them at sunrise. If you are lucky enough to have experienced the season of the daisy, you will understand the joy that they can impose in one’s heart. Native Americans thought of the daisy as the symbol representing the sun. This is one of the reasons amongst many why daisy falls under solar symbols.
Sweet Pea:
April Birthstone:
The diamond, composed solely of carbon, is the hardest gemstone and can be cut only by another diamond. Diamonds form about 90 miles deep in Earth, at tremendous pressure.
It is believed that the first engagement ring that contained a diamond was given in 1477 by Archduke Maximilian of Austria to his fiancée, Mary of Burgundy. Today, diamonds are the most popular choice of stone for an engagement ring.
In Sanskrit, the diamond is called “Vajra,” which also means lightning; in Hindu mythology, Vajra was the weapon of Indra, the king of gods. The largest known diamond is 2,500 miles wide and weighs approximately 10 billion trillion carats. A crystallized white dwarf star, it is located in the constellation Centaurus, about 50 light-years from Earth. It is nicknamed “Lucy,” after the Beatles song, “Lucy in the Sky With Diamonds.”
April Horoscopes
Aries:
The first sign of the Zodiac, Aries are the trailblazers. Passionate and independent, Aries will never do something just because everyone else is doing it—a Ram needs to be 100 percent committed to the task at hand. Competitive to the max, the best way to motivate an Aries is to turn something into a contest. Aries will put everything they have (and then some) into winning. Loyal, smart, and impulsive, they always have multiple projects on their mind, and won't be satisfied until their work, social life, and personal lives line up exactly with the dream life they've envisioned. Those who are drawn to magnetic Aries may have trouble keeping up—but if they can, they'll have a friend for life.
Taurus:
Taurus is known for their attachment and reliability. Kind, dependable and caring, they will always give a helping hand, always prepared to push others forward when they get stuck. They understand ways of the material world. Determined and strong, always prepared to endure in the long run, they will do anything to please their loved one. This is a sign of physical love and hedonism connected to our material reality. The element of Earth can make them lazy, static, stubborn and overly attached to material possessions. A tad possessive, if they fear losing someone, they tend to become real control-freaks that can’t relax. Between these two extremes, and when a Taurus learns to accept change, all of these characteristics turn to sweet flaws that you won’t be able to resist.

Tarot of the Month April
Christina:
For the month of April, this 3 card reading goes in order for the first ten days, 1st-10th, mid month, 11th-20th and end of the month, 21st-30th. To start the month, we pull the 9 of swords. When you draw this card you are experiencing a huge amount of inner tension that needs to find an outlet. You could feel you are in a stranglehold situation in various areas of your life and it may seem insurmountable at this time. However, this is quite a temporary state of affairs. All you really have to do is decide what it is that you really want to do about your life and current situation, and then start the wheels in motion to bring it about. This card is also about thoughts and how your thinking is strongly affecting your actions.
If your thoughts are depressed, then you may find that you don't quite know just yet how to change anything. All is not lost. You just need to try to alter your thinking slightly and soon you will gain a new perspective. It is just a matter of a little time to allow the thought process to really sink in and then you can take the required action to do what it is necessary to change your life. The amount of time required may also very well correspond with the number nine, example, nine days or nine weeks or in the ninth month of September may somehow be relevant. Whatever you do, don't allow other people to make your decisions at this point in time, for you may be very misled and later regret whatever action you took that was not your own true wish. Next up, we see the 4 of cups. The picture on this card shows a hand holding a cup and this is reaching out from a cloud and presenting the cup to a person who is surrounded by leaves and there is a hill in the background and many trees. There are three cups full of liquid in the foreground. This can represent an offer to be considered. Sometimes it can symbolize that the person is reluctant to accept any offers. However, the wise person should at least investigate what is being presented, rather than dismissing it without knowing all the facts. Something can arise out of the blue and be a surprise. If you happen to notice that your circumstances may alter quite significantly if you take up some new direction, then proceed with assurance that this is the right path for you at this point in time. Lastly, we pull the 3 of wands. This card depicts a man with his back to us as he looks out over the water. He holds a wand in his hand signifying growth and abundance. Behind him the second and third wand. He is contemplating his future and possibly the journey ahead of him. In the distance are mountains with high peaks. As he contemplates his future he takes comfort in that wherever he goes he has with him the symbols of growth and can plant wherever he sees fit. He wants to settle down, but must first wander and roam until he finds his true home. This card too is the seeker of knowledge and truth. He searches until he finds what he is looking for. It seems we have lots of soul searching and decisions to make in April. Meditation, contemplation and changes in our thinking patterns are key. Offers, surprises, abundance and growth all will come to us in this self learning period. Happy spring everyone!
Questions and Counsel
Katelyn:
Dear Katelyn,
I hate everyone. Help.
Hatefully
Hi Hatefully,
First of all... YES! I love how honest this is. Why do you need help? You’re not wrong. Hate, like any other emotion, is just an emotion. Emotions are clues leading us to the bigger picture. Do you hate everyone or are you stuck in life? Do you hate everyone or are you outgrowing the people around you? Do you need to make a change? Do you need to take a boxing class and move stagnant energy in your body? Appease the hate, in a healthy way. Find the root of your hate. Why do you hate? Ultimately, it’s a reflection of something brewing inside of you. Embrace the hate, to understand the hate, to rid yourself of the hate.

Spiritual Practices
Diane:
A pentagram is probably the most misunderstood symbol of wicca. It deemed to be a symbol of evil and devil worship. The pentagram is merely a symbol of protection against negativity.
When facing the pentagram, the top point is spirit, the top left is air, top right is water, bottom left is earth and bottom right is fire. This signifies that spirit controls nature. An inverted pentagram implies that spirit is subservient to matter, and man is subservient to his carnal desires. In history the pentagram was once revered by Christians as a symbol for the wounds of Christ or the Star of Bethlehem. It was also the symbol of harmony, spirituality and peace.
And open pentagram means being outgoing, being prepared and aware and active. A circle encased pentagram also known as a pentacle symbolizes unity, eternity, affinity and the cycles of life. A pentagram corresponds with the number five which is very mystical in that it corresponds to us as humans. We have five fingers and toes. We have five senses and go through five stages of life from conception to death.
A pentacle can be worn as a symbol of your faith, as an amulet or talisman of protection. It is used to in ritual to cleanse and consecrate your working space and your altar tools. A silver pentagram increases your psychic and connection to the moon. A pentagram made from wood connects you with earth and a gold pentagram boosts your entry and increase mental clarity.
Energy Channeling April
Bjorg
There is a force in this universe greater than anything else, it is vibration, it is what we call GOD, it is part of everyone
But we must polish our hearts in order to become more of our original spark
Overtime and many lifetimes and beliefs, we dull our spark
We see things through illusions.
The light entering into your world now is a very powerful cleanser
You may see the world in a bit of chaos right now, but as you know it takes time to get everything lined up
As when you clean a house you take things apart, move things around to get to what you need to clean.
The energy is doing the same, ugliness, fear, hate is coming to the surface,
Have faith, in time life will be much more peaceful.
We must all stay positive
Stay in the vibration of what you wish to see in the world
Do not go into judgement, fear or anger, because that is what will be created, more of that.
Everything is energy
Your thoughts and feelings are energy, and it is what YOU bring into the world
Do you bring peace and love? Or do you bring fear and hate?
We must all now understand the important part we all play in this world
It is not outside of us, it is within us
I leave you with these words my child

As the news becomes grimmer and we are asked to close shop and schools or work from home many of us are experiencing a variety of negative emotions. We may feel anxiety in response to the uncertainty of the situation or sadness related to losing our daily sources of meaning and joy. We may feel anger at whatever forces are to blame for bringing this upon us. Is it normal to be unsettled and concerned about the upending of life as we know it? As humans we find comfort and safety in the predictability of the routines of daily living. As our lives continue to change many are struggling with finding ways to deal with the new reality. Our families are once again together and in the same house with kids now home from college and out of school. All of these people cramped in a small ship all trying to get their work done.
Many with younger children are facing the stress of taking care of them at home, often while working from home themselves. There are families with elderly or sick members who are dealing with even more isolation in an attempt to prevent them from becoming ill in a vulnerable population.
While no one knows for certain how long things will last or how long it may take until we can resume our regular lives the pervasive uncertainty of the situation makes it hard to plan a course of action and sometimes creates stress. A lot of our ways of de-stressing such as working out or meeting for social gatherings have come to a halt.
We can respond to the certain situations in a way that will preserve our well-being. It is important to acknowledge that a lot of anxious thoughts and emotions will show up during these times and we need to accept them rather than try and push them away. The same goes for sadness stemming from the loss of our regular ways of living such as worry about lack of supplies or apprehension about someone getting cabin fever. Notice negative emotions, thoughts and physical sensations as they come up and look into them with curiosity. Describe them without judgment and then let them go. This is an essence of mindfulness which could be linked to good health. By allowing negative emotions to come and go, and focusing on how to spend this time to still include engaging in meaningful and joyful activities, it will help in getting through many crisis. Instead of fighting our emotions try investing your energy in creating the best possible life given the circumstances. A lot of us will escape from reality through television and other resources. Be mindful of your distraction strategies. Plan and execute new routines that connect you to what really matters in life. Establish structure and predictability as it gives a sense of purpose with new routines. Stick to regular wake-up, grooming and meal times. Create a plan for how everyone plays and works while at home while understanding that we all need to be flexible and adapt as needed. This could be a great time to invest in learning to play that guitar that has been lying in the corner or master a new language through an on-line course. This could be a great time to teach a new skill such as cooking, or simply learning a new craft.
Remember that good nutrition and socializing are linked to emotional well-being so this can be a great time to get creative. You can keep your well-being by scheduling self-care each day. It may consist of running or walking, using apps for home exercise or makeup sessions. Face Timing your friends is a great way of staying in touch. Remember nature during these times. If possible getting out and taking a hike or gardening can positively affect your health.
Watch a movie together or read a book together with the children. Children love nothing more than to be involved. Take time to savor heart-to-heart conversations with family members or friends. This could result in stronger social connectedness going forward. Remember to have your priorities reflect what truly matters to you. As status and money are put on hold, find your purpose and transcendence.
Finally, keep in mind that experiencing stress and negative emotions can have positive consequences. People who go through difficult life experiences can emerge from it with a stronger sense of resilience, rekindled relationships and a renewed appreciation of life. It may feel as if you are starting to live more fully and purposefully. With care and planning, we all can stay strong and grow from transformative experiences.
