Pre-Kindergarten Newsletter
Sight Words
Sight words are a fundamental part of the early reading process and are truly beneficial in developing the phonological awareness that we strive for our students to have to become emergent readers. We have been introducing sight words throughout the course of the school year, but we will be sending the new words to you to be able to review in these newsletters.
Beginning March 16 (immediately following Spring Break), our next set of words will be:
- and
- come
- for
- look
- said
For a complete list of those already reviewed: my, it, in, up, I, me, he, we, as, be, to, is, do, by, go, of, no, if, at, so, a, you, can, was, did
See link below for some great ways to help master sight words at home.
CVC Words (Consonant / Vowel / Consonant)
Reading Month
Pre-Kindergarten students are challenged to read 460 minutes (20 minutes per day) before the end of Reading Month. Please turn in your log by Friday, April 3rd as we work as a school to reach our goal of 85000 minutes! If we reach that goal, the students will get to turn me and several of my faculty members into human ice cream sundaes!!
