Principal's Message

Dear Parents,

It was another great week of learning at BLES, and we were so glad to hold parent-teacher conferences with you this week. On Wednesday, our Digital Learning Day, we had 385 conferences scheduled! We had another 116 on Thursday. This only includes conferences that were scheduled through our online tool; several others were arranged between teachers and parents. I am so glad that you see the value in sharing your children's progress.

Next week we will have our re-scheduled Field Days...I hope that the weather will cooperate so that we won't have to delay until the Spring. It is also Unity Week and our counselors Mrs. Marantz and Mrs. Murphy have many special things planned for us to celebrate.

I hope you have a wonderful weekend.

Your Principal and Partner,

Dr. Pendleton

Charleston Wrap Fundraiser

Thank you for your support throughout our fundraiser with Charleston Wrap. We are so appreciative of your help towards reaching our goal. Our campaign would not have been nearly as successful without you. And while we’re incredibly grateful, we also have some GREAT news! Even though our set fundraising window has ended – it is still possible to support our organization through Charleston Wrap!

That’s right! Now through the end of the season (December 3, 2021), you can continue shopping online using our unique Organization ID, and we will still reap the benefits! Not only is it incredibly easy to continue supporting our cause, but it also gives you a great opportunity to get more of the products you love or cross more off your holiday shopping list.

Click here to see a flyer with detailed instructions about how you can continue to support our goals and spread the word to your friends & family, near and far! The more people who shop, the more money we can raise for our organization!

Thank you for your help!

The Scholastic Book Fair is now here until October 29th!

Students can shop the Book Fair in our Media Center or you can click here to shop online from home.

Every purchase from the Book Fair earns rewards for our school!

Next Week is Unity Week

October is National Bullying Prevention Month! We are celebrating by dedicating a whole week to showing that we stand for kindness, acceptance and inclusion at BLES, October 25 - 29.

All students may participate in the Unity Week dress-up days, but we are suggesting for $1.00 donation that will go directly to the United Way student campaign. You may send your child to school with money or donate on My Payments Plus. The United Way helps non-profit organizations focus on education, financial stability and health. Students should turn their money into their teacher. Half of all the money we raise in our student campaign will come right back to Berkeley Lake Elementary School.

Instructional Resources Public Review:

Staff, students, parents, and Gwinnett community members are invited to provide input on proposed instructional resources for select courses in Language Arts, Social Studies, Career and Technical Education, and Foreign Language/ Dual Language Immersion. Before adopting instructional resources for classroom use, GCPS undergoes an extensive selection process. Multiple committees involving various stakeholder groups were convened to select resources to consider for adoption. The resources were reviewed for alignment with the school system’s Academic Knowledge and Skills (AKS) curriculum as well as strength of instructional strategies, freedom from sensitivity or bias, and diverse representation. Data from the public review and classroom pilots will be considered in making adoption recommendations to the Board of Education in early 2022. This year’s public review opportunity is now open, from Oct. 1 through Oct. 31. To begin the review, please visit this link. Thank you for your interest.
