Winter Sports Reclassification
On March 3, AHSAA released the reclassification information for Winter sports. These classifications will be for the 2020-2021 and 2021-2022 school years.
*Boys and Girls Basketball will compete in 7A Area 6 alongside Gadsden City, Spain Park and Vestavia Hills
*Boys Bowling will compete in 6A-7A Area 7 alongside Gadsden City, Gardendale, Hartselle, Minor, Pinson Valley and Southside-Gadsden
*Girls Bowling will compete in 6A-7A Area 7 alongside Clay-Chalkville, Gadsden City, Gardendale, Hartselle, Huffman, Pinson Valley and Southside-Gadsden
*Boys and Girls Indoor Track will compete in 7A alongside 25 other schools
*Wrestling will compete in 7A Section 2 alongside Austin, Bob Jones, Florence, Gadsden City, Grissom, Huntsville, James Clemens, Oak Mountain, Spain Park, Sparkman, Tuscaloosa County and Vestavia Hills

Girls Soccer Set to Open Area Play
Area play is set to begin on Tuesday night for the Hewitt-Trussville Girls Soccer team. The Huskies will host Mountain Brook at 5pm. HT is now 6-1 overall on the season after an 11-0 win over Pinson Valley Friday night.
The Huskies have now matched their win total from the 2019 season. Julia Farris scored the first three goals of the night for Lauren Wooten's team. Taylor Doss and Lizzy Hurst had early assists. Erin McGough then scored off an assist from Kaylee Rivas. Baylee McGuirt made the score 5-0 when she scored off an assist from Elizabeth Mezrano.
Later in the half, Julie Mezrano, Julia Farris, Sarah Mezrano, Baylee McGuirt and Caitlyn Mosey all scored.
Baseball Wins 7th in a Row

Hewitt-Trussville Baseball improved to 8-1 on the season after a pair of wins Saturday. First, the Huskies defeated Sylacauga 15-1. Coach Jeff Mauldin's team scored nine runs in the fourth inning to put the game out of reach. Matt Miller hit a grand slam in the second inning to give the Huskies an early lead. Riley Quick was the winning pitcher as he pitched a complete game and struck out nine batters. Tyler Mauldin had three hits and Michael Fowler had two RBI's. Jackson Holland and Kahlin Drake each had two hits and two RBI's. Matt Miller had a total of five RBI's.
In the second game Saturday, the Huskies beat Pelham 1-0. Jackson Holland was the winning pitcher as he struck out 13 batters over five innings. Tyler Mauldin had two hits. The big hit came from Michael Fowler in the fifth inning as he stroked a double to left center to score Hudson Boren for the only run of the game.
Hewitt-Trussville will be back in action on Tuesday night when they host Southside-Gadsden.
Girls Golf Wins Tuscaloosa Event
Hewitt-Trussville Girls Golf traveled to Tuscaloosa on Thursday and competed in the Winter's End Tournament at Ol' Colony Golf Club. The Huskies finished in 1st place out of 11 teams. 7th Grader Molly Davidson fired a one under par round of 71 to finish 2nd individually out of all golfers that competed. Mary Grace Davidson and Katelyn McIntyre also had their score count for the team. The Huskies finished six shots ahead of Spain Park to claim the tournament title.
Coach Leigh Burke's team will be in action again on March 5 as they travel to Twin Bridges Golf Club for a match.

Outdoor Track: Boys 2nd; Girls 3rd in First Event
The 2020 Outdoor Track season started on Friday as the Huskies traveled to Mountain Brook for the opening meet. The HT Boys finished 2nd and the HT Girls finished 3rd. The Huskies will host a meet on March 5 at Hewitt-Trussville Stadium.

Boys Golf: Joe King Memorial Recap
HT Boys Golf traveled to Auburn this weekend for the Joe King Memorial. All teams played 18 holes on Friday and 18 holes on Saturday. The Huskies shot a round of 306 Saturday which was eight shots lower than the Friday round. The Huskies finished 7th out of 17 teams in the strong field. Cole Davidson shot a round of 69 on Saturday. His 143 total earned him a third place finish overall and a spot on the All-Tournament team.
Stuart Dickson had an excellent round of 71 on Saturday. Ethan Hacker was the third low score for Hewitt as he shot 79. The team will be back in action on March 10 as they participate in a tri-match with Vestavia and Hoover.
Softball Schedule Update

Wednesday's scheduled game at Hoover has been moved up to Tuesday because of weather. The Varsity game will begin at 4:30pm with the JV game to follow. The Huskies are undefeated on the season and won the season-opening tournament in Phenix City.

Boys Soccer to Start Area Play
Hewitt-Trussville Boys Soccer will open 7A Area 6 play on Thursday when they visit Vestavia. The Huskies picked up a win over the weekend as they beat Cullman 1-0. Jacob Crow scored the only goal of the game off an assist from Landon Surratt.

HTHS Cheer Interest Meeting
There will be a mandatory interest meeting for HTHS Cheer on March 5 at 6pm. It will be held in the HTHS Upper Gym. See below for more information.
Football: Homecoming and Senior Night Dates Announced
Hewitt-Trussville High School will host the 2020 Homecoming game on October 2. Senior night will take place on October 23. HT Cheer will host their "Come Cheer With Us" event on August 28. Youth football night will be held October 16.

Student Athletic Pass Pickup Information
In an effort to increase our fan base and make game attendance more affordable, Student Athletic Passes will be available for the second time ever for the 2019-2020 school year. Every student in the district (K-12) will have the opportunity to have their own personalized athletic pass card. With this pass, students will be able to enter ALL HTMS and HTHS home regular season sporting events. The pass is $20 and can be purchased during registration as an item on the activity sheet.

Q. What is the purpose of the Student Athletic Pass?
A. The Student Athletic Pass will be available to ALL students in the district (K-12). Our goal is to make it easier and more affordable for students to attend Hewitt-Trussville sporting events.
Q. What can I attend with this pass?
A. Students that have their pass can enter ALL HTMS and HTHS home regular season sporting events. Every sport! For the entire 2019-2020 school year!

MS Baseball: Weekly Recap
HTMS Baseball picked up a pair of wins in the opening week of the season. On February 25, the Huskies beat Oxford 7-2 in the first game of a double header. Lawson Wood was the winning pitcher and Carson Wideman had two hits.
On February 27, HT defeated Springville 11-1 in the first game of a double header. Ryan Davis was the winning pitcher as he struck out four batters. Donavan Price hit a home run and finished with six RBI's. Ryan Barlok had two hits and two RBI's.

The Alabama High School Athletic Association (AHSAA) requires all student-athletes to complete eligibility paperwork each year. For the second year, this process will be done online rather than in paper copy. Any student, wishing to participate in athletics, that will be in grades 7-12 for the 2019-2020 school year will be required to complete this process. Please follow the instructions below to complete these forms for the 2019-2020 school year. Students’ forms for 2019-2020 need to be 100% complete as soon as possible. This is for AHSAA sanctioned sports only.
