Mrs. Beth Fontenot received the St. Landry Economic Development/SLED Career and Technical Education Award. This award recognizes those individuals who have made extraordinary contributions to CTE, programs that exemplify the highest standards and organizations that have conducted activities to promote and expand CTE programs.
Devin A., Adrian E. and Alexander A., three of Beau Chene High School Soccer Players competed with Dynamo Junior Soccer Club in the St Louis Scott Gallagher Boys College Showcase in St. Louis, MO. The Boys College Showcase is the premier Boys College Showcase in the Midwest.

East Elementary had a COKE FLOAT PARTY for third and fourth grade students who showed improvement on their LEAP 360 Interim test.

DeZira Thomas is Highland's AR student of the week. She is a student in Ms. Tonya's second grade class. She earned this award for meeting her goal already this 9 weeks with a having a 97% average. Thank you Sonic for partnering with us for these awards and rewarding our students with a bag of Sonic branded goodies and coupons.
LAWTELL ELEMENTARY SCHOOL
Lawtell Elementary showed their school spirit and enthusiasm for the Synergy Leap Pep Rally as they prepared for testing beginning on April 8th. All 3rd through 8th graders were given tips and strategies for success from Pastor Bonnie Riley, director of the Just One Word, Inc. 21st CCLC program. She reminded students to Receive, Retain, and Recall the information taught by our wonderful teachers. Now everyone should be “READY” for LEAP 2025 testing. They were also entertained by the Lawtell Elementary cheerleaders, band, and special dancers. The Synergy Pep Rally was a success!
Lawtell Elementary Peer Leaders hosted an Easter Egg Hunt for PreK and Kindergarten classes. The Easter bunny made a guest appearance to make sure the children had an exciting time!

NORTHWEST HIGH SCHOOL
Northwest JAG Career Association held a monthly meeting this week to recognize participants with the TOP JAG GPA for the 3rd nine weeks. The 2018-2019 JAG officers were also recognized for a successful year of leadership in the Career Association. All participants were recognized for being a chosen as a Virtual Classroom through AT & T and Nepris. Our JAG classes connected with various professionals throughout the U.S. during Virtual Classroom sessions. Students were awarded Padfolios from AT&T, Nepris and National JAG.

PORT BARRE ELEMENTARY SCHOOL
Third grade students at PBES recreated the Mistake Bottle Tree from the novel, “Because of Winn-Dixie.” The tree symbolizes that we all make mistakes, but the important thing is to learn from them. The students also learned about not judging others and friendship through this project. Awesome job!
First grade students at PBES enjoyed creating “Monarch Butterflies”. These were created under the direction of the Acadiana Center of Performing Arts.
Students in Mrs. Rideaux’s and Mrs. Guidry’s ELA classes at PBES performed Contraction Surgery today. Our doctors did an excellent job!
Kindergarten students at PBES enjoyed creating their picture of “Blue Dog”. These were done under the direction of the Acadiana Center of Performing Arts.
SUNSET ELEMENTARY SCHOOL
Sunset Middle School students were able to experience a New Orleans Pelicans game as an incentive for having perfect attendance for Saturday tutoring sessions. Weekly PBIS drawing winners were also invited to attend.
Sunset Middle School participated in 4-H Achievement Day at OHS on Saturday, April 6th. The winners are pictured. Cassie P. - 2nd Place in the Poster Contest and Vocal Music Contest, Christine P. - 2nd Place in the Poster Contest and Horse Contest, Aleisha B. - 3rd place in the Demonstration Contest and Job Interview Contest, Marissa H - 1st Place in the Ready to Wear Contest. Congratulations!

Opelousas Head Start had their Easter Egg Hunt on this sunny day. Pictured are the early head start classes with their teachers. The children enjoyed hunting for the eggs with their classmates and teachers.
