spotacular special
'Spot On' for children in need
medieval monks
This half term Year 5 have been building on their experiences on Holy Island to think about why our local monk, St Cuthbert, might have chosen the monastic life. So on Wednesday the class visited Fountains Abbey for a workshop experiencing a day in the life of a monk. Apparently some of the children were quite keen on becoming monks, and the staff appreciated the vow of silence!
the patter of tiny feet
The EYFS team are proud to announce their new arrival! Their new hen has joined Maria, who was feeling rather lonely on her own. She is yet to be named (there may have to be a little competition to choose the name ..) but we are proud to say our new hen has laid an egg everyday so she must be happy here. James Potter Eggs kindly donated her, so thanks to them.

parent forum
The Parent Forum is meeting on 28th November after drop off in the morning. All parents are welcome to attend but you may prefer to give your ideas to your class rep. This term we will be focussing on healthy eating and home-school links. Thank you again to the parents who volunteered to be class reps, we look forward to welcoming you to our first meeting.
charity box
The Year 6 Charity Group would like to thank everyone who has brought donations to the box in the entrance area. It has been full to overflowing more than once, but don't worry, we're happy to make space for more gifts for local children in need at Christmas time!
Monday 5th december - put the date in your diary
On Monday 5th December, our school will be a joining a Christingle celebration in support of The Children’s Society at Ripon Cathedral. On this special occasion we are proposing to keep the children after school - give them something to eat and walk up to the Cathedral for a 5pm service.
We’re really excited to be working alongside the Cathedral on this joyous occasion, raising money to support The Children’s Society’s work with vulnerable children and young people across the country.
Christingle celebrations are magical, candle lit services well enjoyed by children and adults alike, and we would be delighted if you and your family could join us at ours at 5pm on Monday 5th December. We will send more details next week but thought you would like the date for your diary.
Friends of Ripon Cathedral School Update
Thank you to all the families who came to last Friday's school disco, everyone had a lovely time and we raised a fantastic £366.78 for the school.
Next week we will be busy potting hyacinths in preparation for the Cathedral Christmas fair and selling raffle tickets, at Booths, for the School Christmas Fair. Thank you to everyone who returned the volunteer slip and offered to help with these tasks. We'll be in touch with details shortly. If you would like to help, there is still time, please speak to one of the Friends, or ask for information in the school office. Thank you.
