Spring Break is Here
The two week Spring Break begins next week, April 4th and runs through April 15th. We hope you all use this time to relax and recharge for the final stretch of the semester. See the message below about grades so you are not caught by surprise. Remember that upon our return from Spring Break, we will begin out two weeks of state testing. While this is mainly for our Junior class, the Bell Schedule will affect everyone. Thanks and have a GREAT Valhalla Break.
Grades Close This Friday
The second progress report grades will close at the end of the day on Friday April 1st. These grades will be reported upon the return from Spring Break. Students should make sure to work with their teachers on getting work completed and study for any end of unit exams.
Eligibility for Spring athletes will be affected by these grade. Be sure to finish strong.
Self Care Corner
"Self-care isn't just good for the educator, but also for the students. Understanding the link between self-care and professional effectiveness can really help people understand it's not selfish" (Jacqueline Zeller, 2022)

CAASPP Testing - April 19-27
In April our Juniors and Seniors will rise to the occasion and represent the academic excellence of Valhalla High School through our annual CAASPP (Juniors only) and CAST (Juniors & Seniors) tests. All appropriate grade level students participate in testing even if they are not currently enrolled in a Math, English or Science course.
We know our students will show their best critical thinking and analytical skills on the Math, English and Science tests. Test results impact our overall statewide report card. Success on this test can prepare students for a post-secondary future with placement in the appropriate college courses. The computer based test will be held during a CAASPP bell schedule. The test has unlimited time and several technology tools embedded to help implement test taking strategies. English teachers will be sharing more information as we prepare for testing.
Please save the dates of April 19th, 21st, 25th, and 27th for our Junior Math/English CAASPP testing. All Juniors and Seniors will take the CAST Science Test on April 29th. Our bell schedule is posted on our website. Students not testing will attend a late start period 1 as indicated on the schedule.
We are very proud of our students and the academic achievements they have made through COVID and their high school experience. We know they will make us proud and represent the Orange Nation with pride! If you have any questions about testing please contact Assistant Principal, Mr. Amir Mohammadi at amohammadi@guhsd.net.
I wish you success on your upcoming test!
