Coyote Chronicles
March 1, 2023
A message from the principal
We have now entered the very busy time of the year, appropriately named “March Madness!” Next Thursday is the end of Trimester 2, followed by a Staff Planning Day, where our teachers complete report cards and get time to plan for Trimester 3. Then we have Spring Break, where we can all catch our breath and re-energize our batteries before a busy home stretch. There is still so much to learn before June 7.
I hope everyone takes the opportunity over Spring Break to spend extra time with your family no matter if it is traveling to a warm destination or playing cribbage at the kitchen table. Along with family time, it would be very timely, after recently completing “I Love To Read” month, to have your child select a book of their choice to read for the fun of it.
Have a wonderful Spring Break, and let’s have our Coyotes rejuvenated and focused to make sure our third trimester is our best one yet!
APTCO News
Thank you to everyone who attended our February APTCO meeting. We had a great turn out for our guest speakers, Jacki and Jennifer, from The Catalyst Approach. It was great to hear how The Catalyst Approach is implemented at our school and all the benefits for our Coyotes and our amazing staff.
Our next meeting will be held on Thursday, March 23rd. We will be discussing upcoming events (kindergarten registration and staff appreciation week), start planning for next school year and, as always, we will hear from Mr. Van Voorhis. We hope to see you there!
We hope everyone has a wonderful spring break!

Volunteer News
Thank you to all who generously gave their time by volunteering in the month of February!
Did you know? Having a volunteer spend time making copies, laminating, cutting paper, making booklets, and organizing worksheets gives teachers time back with their family instead of staying after school into the evening prepping for their classroom. Just in February alone, volunteers helped teachers get back 52 hours they would have otherwise spent preparing items for their classroom. Volunteers are helping our teachers with work/life balance, and it is greatly appreciated!
Can you lend a hand? Visit our Volunteer Headquarters to learn of all the current volunteer opportunities at Andover Elementary. Upcoming opportunities include:
General Workroom Volunteering: copying, laminating, general clerical tasks
Spring Picture Day: Just a few spots are still open (coming up on 3/8)
4th Grade Reading Help: working 1:1 with students who need extra practice with reading accuracy and fluency
Kindergarten Explorations - Planting Prep: COMING SOON, look for this sign up in the coming days
