Transportation Update
The shortage of bus drivers here and across our area continues to create issues with timeliness of getting students to and from school. Additionally, transportation for our student athletics and activities is becoming more difficult as the timing of these events requires that students depart before school bus routes are complete.
Junior High Athletic Transportation Suspended
Unfortunately, the timing of dismissal at the elementary schools conflicts with the timing of athletic transportation needs at junior high, and without a full staff of drivers, it’s not possible to do both.
For these reasons, transportation for junior high sporting contests will not be provided for the fall athletic season. Parents will need to arrange for students to be driven to away contests and home afterwards, as buses will not be available. All junior high contests are hosted within the district at SD308 schools.
Supervision will be provided at the school for athletes until 4pm on days with away contests to allow parents/guardians time to pick-up their child at school and provide transportation to the hosting school before the start of the contest at 4:30pm. Parents may choose to arrange carpools between teammates to assist with rides, however, due to liability concerns, the district cannot coordinate this.
For parents choosing to withdraw their child from a sport due to this change, a full refund will be provided until the first contest, please contact the main office.
Prior to the start of the winter athletic season, a transportation update will be provided. We thank you for your understanding and cooperation.

Free and Reduced Lunch Applications Due Oct. 1
Free/Reduced Lunch
Those who qualify for free or reduced cost meals must complete an application. The deadline to apply is October 1. Information and the application can be found here. This is the same program that was in place prior to COVID-19.
Chromebook Insurance Open Enrollment
It is once again that time of year to obtain coverage for your student's Chromebook, open enrollment is here! The insurance policy is for accidental damage and theft. There is no deductible and it will cover all repair costs and the cost of replacement should it get stolen. With the average repair cost above $50, it more than pays for itself the first time you use it and you can take advantage of it an unlimited number of times during the coverage year.
We highly recommend that every 5th - 12th grade family whose student(s) have a take home device to consider enrolling in this program. Check the flyer for all the information on how to register, enrollment dates, and the cost.
