January 2016

LETTER FROM THE PRESIDENTS

Dear Level Creek families,

Can you believe we are halfway through this school year? The school year is flying by! I hope everyone enjoyed the extra time to be with your children over the holidays.

We have had a great year so far, and we have our wonderful PTA families to thank for that. Thanks to the success of our Fall Fundraiser, we have been working with Ms. Taylor to upgrade the Media Center. We have purchased ALL of the new furniture and several additional technology components that will enhance the learning environment for our students. As soon as everything is complete, we plan to host an “Open House” for everyone to see the new and improved Media Center. Look for more information about this in January or February.

We have also been working hard to fulfill teachers’ wish lists this year through teacher grant applications. Through this process, we have purchased quite a variety of classroom needs. All second grade and Kindergarten teachers received $50 gift cards for Teachers Pay Teachers website where they can purchase content specific support materials for their classrooms. The teachers are thrilled! Kindergarten also received charging stations for the tablets we provided last year. Additionally, we purchased Social Studies Source Kits, 2 laptops, step stools, sentence strips, writing paper, math manipulatives, and repair kits for Chromebooks. As you can see from this varied list of needs, our teachers asked for things they truly NEEDED! Finally, we were able to help fund a staff development for one of our teachers, and a new Smartboard for two of our special needs classrooms.

Please mark your calendars for Saturday, February 6th from 2:00-5:00 pm for the Annual Level Creek Winter Carnival! For those of you who may be new to our school, our Winter Carnival is an amazing event that is held each year for Level Creek students and their families. The Winter Carnival includes entertainment, inflatables, food, games and much more! Be sure to purchase raffle tickets as you won’t want to miss our raffle baskets which includes items such as: Star Wars Legos, American Girl doll, GoPro, iPads, XBox ONE, Disney World tickets, and much more!

We hope you enjoyed the holiday season, and wish you all the best in 2016!

Thank you!!

CARE & COMMUNITY OUTREACH

The 1st graders’ annual canned food drive to benefit the North Gwinnett Co-op will take place January 19-22. Their goal is to at least match last year’s collection of over 2,000 items!

Current needs include UNEXPIRED canned beans, vegetables, meats and fish, low sodium soups, spaghetti noodles and sauce, boxed potato mixes, pasta, rice, as well as peanut butter, jelly, coffee, and juice.

Not needed at this time: green beans, corn, macaroni and cheese, or cereal.

Also useful are UNOPENED non-food items such as toothpaste, toothbrush, deodorant, shampoo/conditioner, pull-ups, diapers (size 4 and up), powdered laundry detergent and dish soap.

Please note that expired items will be thrown out; they will not be counted towards the total.

The class that brings the most items will win a popcorn party. Thank you for your support!
