Happy Sunday Phelan Parents-
I hope EVERYONE has enjoyed this beautiful South Texas weather. Last week was one for the books: It was Assistant Principal's Week and we were able to celebrate the wonderful Mrs. Broussard, STAAR prep began and the Phelan teachers took it to the next level with "Game On;" Carnival, Candy land, Operation, Monopoly, Starbucks Mode Cafe, Pacman, and our very 1st Phelan STAAR pep rally. We had Kingdom Day, Pizza writing, Reader's theater, and our littlest nights were able to study constellations special thanks to our L.E.A.F grant from Lamar Educational Awards Foundation.
Phelan teachers are using authentic, intentional instruction through engagement and truly exemplifying commitment. I am beyond impressed with the personal dedication to our Knights. Thank you to everyone involved.
We are etching ever closer to finishing off the 22-23 school year. Next week we take the English (Reading/ Writing) STAAR. The teachers have prepared the students and the students have shown amazing growth. Please simply remind them to stay calm and use their strategies. I am excited to see what our Knights will do.

April 24-28: A Kingdom Fundraiser Challenge will begin next week. It does not require any door to door selling, collection of dollars, or distribution of product. Your student's teacher will be sharing the code later this week.
April 28: Parent's Knight Out! (3:00-7:00) You will receive the paper copy in your student's folder on Tuesday. I will send the electronic version in the mid-week update.

IMPORTANT Reminders:
Attendance is vital. A student cannot learn necessary curriculum if they are not in class.
School starts at 7:30 AM.

Be sure your student is reading 30 minutes EVERY SINGLE NIGHT to earn their Knight Bucks We will visit the Knight store in February. Every night a student can earn 1 knight buck and February will be here before we know it. Reading is THE gateway to all learning.
Parent Parking: DO NOT PARK on the bus driveway road. This is a traffic violation indicated by the painted curbs that read, "No parking."
Parent Parking: Do NOT PARK in the front parking Lot and walk your student to the Phelan doors in the morning drop-off.
Every Phelan employee and student MUST wear an ID and lanyard. This is a district and campus requirement. A student who is not wearing their lanyard will be issued 1 warning with a fix-it ticket. The second violation is lunch detention. Multiple lunch detentions leads to in-school suspension. If your student has lost their ID and/or lanyard, your student can purchase a new one at the front desk.
