Notes from the Library...

  • VHS and cassette tapes: Last chance! They are now on the table in the Library Office/Workroom. Please feel free to take any you would like to have. Any left by 3:30 on Monday will be discarded.

News from LL Delivery:
"The last day that items will be delivered to your school will be Thursday, Dec. 18. We will keep the school hold locations open over the break so students and teachers can continue to request items. To help with workflow, MNPS will most likely continue to deliver items to your school during the break, but all items will be due as if they come to you on Jan. 6.

Food for Fines: "It’ll happen again in January! I will send full details soon, but wanted to you to be aware that the dates this year are Jan. 5-Jan. 18."

Wednesday, December 17: All 3rd and 4th books due

Book Give Away - Thursday, December 18

We will have a Book Give Away for all students on Thursday, December 18. The books are from a First Book grant and from Book 'Em. All students will be able to choose one free book to keep. Please stop by the library to sign up for a time to bring your class. The schedule breaks the day up into 15 minute increments, and we will have two classes during each time slot.

Reading with the Belmont Bruins

Let’s Read With The Bruins is a program that promotes reading during the holiday season. Individual awards are based on the number of pages read. School awards are based on a percentage of pages read to the number of students enrolled. Rules for the program are outlined in the enclosed booklet [this will be in your box on Monday]. This program supports youth in the Metro Nashville school system. The Belmont Bruins are excited to offer this program to you."

Teacher Participation:

Teachers are asked to inform students of the program and to generate interest for the program. If you would like a women’s basketball poster for your bulletin board or classroom, please call L’Tona Lamonte at (615) 460-5622, email: ltona.lamonte@belmont.edu or fax (615) 460-5584. Teachers are also asked to do the following:

  • December 15-19, 2014

Explain the details of the program to the students. Make sure the letter to parents and reading sheets are sent home with the students.

  • Wednesday, January 7, 2015

Collect the reading sheets from the students.

  • Thursday, January 8, 2015

Collect remainder of the sheets from the students. Give classroom total sheets (Appendix B) to Jackie Gregory.
