October - King of the Pumpkin Patch

You have seen them? All the wonderful, colorful, pumpkin patches around town? If you have not, check them out. While you are there, make sure to ask if they have a plan for donation after Halloween. Because you know who can help with that? The SAFB!

It is almost time for our 22nd annual Great Pumpkin Round-up.

On November 5th, you will see our SAFB trucks around town picking up all the unsold pumpkins. How can you help? Visit your local pumpkin patch. See if they have a donation plan and if not, ask if the SAFB can help. We are also looking for volunteers, so if you would like to get involved, either individual, family, group, school, etc., please let us know. We would love to have you help out and collect these colorful giants!

Events! Events! And more Events!

Meetings galore!

Don't forget we have several meetings coming up. Please see below for dates.

Finance Committee: October 21st at 3pm. We will be meeting with the auditors to review the audit. Come all!

FULL Board Meeting: October 28th at Noon!

Program Committee: November 4th at Noon

Food Committee: November 4th at 1pm

And we encourage you to attend, even if you are not on these specific committees. We would love to have you. They are great way to get information (more than you get from these newsletters), and find more opportunities for engagement. So give them a try!

Looking ahead

I seriously don't know where the year went. Can you believe we are almost into November? And then before you know it, it will be December? So as we move into the holiday season, we will be targeting our holiday food drives. Want to get involved? We will have lots to do with food and fund drives, and especially tons of volunteer opportunities.

As we end this year, we will also be sending out the schedule of our mid-year check-ups. If you have been working on your board tracker, yay! But don't worry, we are here for you. If you need some help, or want to know about additional opportunities for engagement, please let us know. We can do just about anything, so give us a holler!

Need help?

Ever wonder about volunteer hours? Or shifts? Well look no further. We offer volunteer opportunities in every aspect of our business, from warehouse sorting, to the cool freezer sorting, Kid's Cafe, Garden and Farm (for all your green thumbs), Haven for Hope and in the Community Kitchen (ahem, all you aspiring chefs). There is something for everyone.

Hours do vary per volunteer opportunity but mostly run 9am-11:30am and 1:30pm-4:40pm Monday through Saturday. We are also available for Sunday shifts at Haven for Hope from 6am-9am, 10am-2pm and 3pm-7pm or at the SAFB by appointment. Happy Volunteering!

Do you know how amazing you are? We do! So in case we forget to tell you... thank you. Thank you for who you are and thank you for all that you do! Have a great weekend!
