Message from Mrs. Rodriguez
Dear Garcia Grizzly Family,
Just another show of appreciation to all of the parents who attended our Breakfast with My Parent meetings and Raising a Reader Sessions. The information shared with parents and students was very valuable and will help our students grow! If you were unable to attend, we will set up a makeup meeting in the evening so that you can pick up your students folder with individual data on iReady, attendance, ELPAC and other information. Our goal as a school is to reach 100% parent participation. We understand that parents may not be able to attend, but we will do what it takes to make it convenient for those who were not able to come.
We are currently honoring Latino Heritage Month from Sept 15-Oct 15! This past weekend our Dual Immersion Classes represented our school at the Festival Latino on September 24. Garcia Elementary School represented the beautiful country of Guatemala! DLI classes made Guatemalan quetzales, flags, banners and volcanoes as part of our exhibit during the parade of schools. Ballet Folklorico de Garcia also performed and Alexa Esparza, 5th grader, sang Viva Mexico! for the audience at the opening of the festival. It was a great event! Thank you to all of the Garcia families that supported Garcia on Saturday!
Our goals for our 3rd-5th grade California Assessment of Student Performance & Progress C.A.S.P.P. (state exams) are:
English Language Arts: 37% proficient or higher
Mathematics: 31% proficient or higher
Remember what our theme is this school year! It's all about making good decisions, being critical thinkers, practicing and correcting ourselves when we make mistakes.
Level Up Grizzlies!
Some updates for this year that are of importance are:

- Raising a Reader Workshops will continue for the final four sessions. These are especially for Kinder and 1st grade parents. We are sharing information and strategies on how to develop students that love reading and choose to do it! Raising a Reader! Please join us.
