ALICE - Intruder Drill

Eastland School District will be conducting Blue Point Alarm and A.L.I.C.E.simulation drills throughout the district on Monday, September 25, 2023. The Blue Point Alarm is the system used to notify law enforcement of an active intruder in the school.

On September 25, 2023 we will be holding a Blue Point Alarm system test so students are aware of what the alarm sounds like. When the system test is complete, I will come over the PA system and announce “Please enter Lockdown. Locks, Lights, Out of Sight.” We will then practice the physical act of the lockdown with students in the classroom. Law Enforcement, Administration, and Support Staff will sweep the school and clear rooms before the lockdown is considered clear. This process should take no more than 5-10 minutes. When the lockdown is complete, teachers will discuss different scenarios with students. If the alarm sounds when not simulating a drill, immediate lockdown (locks, lights, out of sight) is in place until the location of the intruder is known, then A.L.I.C.E. protocols begin. Teachers will highlight the other letters in A.L.I.C.E. and when it would be appropriate use and what to do.

A.L.I.C.E. stands for:

A - Alert

L - Lockdown

I - Inform

C - Counter

E - Evacuate
