Oak Ridge High School - January 6, 2023

From Mr. Almond

Happy New Year! We have had a great start back to the school year. Report cards went out yesterday, so be sure to check on your student's progress for the first semester and set new goals for the second semester.

Construction is continuing around the school. We are working to open the new front area of the school on Tuesday, January 17th. Assistant principals, counselors, and nurses are currently working in their new offices. I will update you more next week as we get closer to opening the new front area.

The district is looking for individuals to be a part of the 2023 bond planning committee. For more information, please visit the CISD website.

Have a great weekend and thank you for your support!

New Senior Campus Nurse

Big picture

Hi there! My name is Kristin Brown and I am so excited to be stepping into the campus nurse position for Oak Ridge High School. I am married to my high school sweetheart and we have two children together, Daphne, who is 4, and Abe, who is 1. I have been a nurse for 7 years and have been in school nursing for 3. I moved from Oklahoma this summer and joined the CISD’s Health Services float team with the intent of settling down on an elementary campus but then I found ORHS, Nurse Jackie, and Tina! From the moment I stepped foot on this campus, I knew it was different and I immediately felt a pull to this campus and clinic. As the process of Nurse Jackie retiring and hiring a new campus nurse began, the pieces just fell perfectly into place and I feel that I am right where I am meant to be. I knew I found my passion when I stepped into school nursing 3 years ago, but I had no idea I would find such a sense of home at the secondary level and am so thankful to be able to do a job that I love so much. I know that Nurse Jackie will be tremendously missed and I hope that I can support and help the students and staff here at ORHS in a way that reflects all the care and love she has poured into this campus during her time here. Thank you for all the warm welcome and for the opportunity to be the ORHS campus nurse.

New Associate Principal

Big picture

Hi, I’m Danielle Smith!

I am an experienced educator that has spent nine years in the classroom teaching multiple grade levels, as well as seven years as an Assistant Principal.

As a leader in education, I hold an expectation of success for every learner that enters our school. It is my belief that students should be given the opportunity to develop into life-long learners through a balance of education that addresses the needs of the individual as well as the group, across the curriculum.

I am excited to continue working in Oak Ridge as the new Associate Principal!
