LITERACY WEEK next week!
Girls on the Run
We are in desperate need of a Girls on the Run sponsor. It is time to begin this incredible program and need someone to head it up! This is an incredible opportunity to connect with our young ladies on campus through a weekly program that is provided to you. Please see me before the end of the day on Tuesday (today) if you are willing to serve in this capacity. WE NEED YOU!
Freckle.com
Freckle is a differentiated online platform that adapts real time to student performance. Unlike i-Ready that locks a student into a path until diagnostic data is calculated, Freckle immediately adjusts as a student completes individual tasks. If a student needs a tutorial in the middle of a task, it pops up and provides it. If a student did horribly one day, not giving his/her effort, and then is on point the next.....it adjusts immediately.
This platform is completely aligned to our Florida standards and provides updated dashboards for the teacher every 20 seconds. There are several schools in our district that are using this program and have seen 2 years worth of growth in 5 months time.
I have a conference call and demonstration next Monday with the creator and would like your questions and input. Please explore and allow your students to work within this platform. Your initial set up is free! (I see this being an incredible resource for our on and above level students!) Have students log on AFTER they have met their criteria for our blended learning requirements. I would ask that only our content area teachers create classes at this time. Please let me know your thoughts! I really think you are going to LOVE this program!
There are ELA, Math, Science and Social Studies platforms. ELA requires a pre-test, OR allows you to override and enter current lexile levels of your students. Math requires a 10 question pre-test per domain to create a level set and beginning path. These pre-tests are expected to take about 7 minutes each. I do not have specifics about the science platform.
Wellness Wednesdays
I have sent you links to the Wellness Wednesday lessons throughout the year. The Superintendent is asking that all elementary students participate in these lessons each month as a part of our social-emotional curriculum. (They are really good lessons, and are completely done for you.) Please take the time to review these lessons and find time on your Early Dismissal Wednesdays to complete them with your students. I welcome your feedback so that I can share it with the team at the district level that is creating them.
Family Academic Night
...is right around the corner! :) If your committee needs supplies that I need to purchase, please let me know ASAP. If possible, it would be best if someone from your team can purchase and submit receipts....but let us know.
We have been able to secure a Mad Scientist performance BEFORE the family night begins at 5:30 pm. (THANKS, Ms. Algard!!!!!) As a result, we will begin in the cafeteria, I will share details on the night, and release families after our presentation. I CAN'T WAIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

SAC - Midyear Stakeholders Meeting
Our mid-year stakeholders meeting is next Monday, Jan. 27th at 3:15 pm. You are welcomed and encouraged to attend, as our families always have questions regarding our data points that are always better answered by the classroom teachers. :) We will meet in the media center.
