Notes from the Nurse-
We will be having our annual state mandated Hearing/Vision/Acanthosis Nigricans screening for Kindergartners, 1st Graders, 3rd Graders, 5th Graders, and any new students to the district. This screening will be held on October 27th. Acanathosis Nigricans is a skin marker on the back of the neck which can identify persons who run the risk of developing diabetes later in life. Please make sure your child wears their glasses or contacts on this day.
Ongoing:
Yes, we are getting into the flu season. We are discussing with all grade levels, the importance of washing hands and keeping our hands clean to prevent spread of germs. We also discuss importance of covering our cough and sneeze, using tissues, hand sanitizer, and NOT touching our eyes, nose, and mouth. We want to stay healthy this cold and flu season. FLU clinics are still available through FISD. Please check the FISD website to schedule your vaccination. Please see attached flyer and print for a fun activity.
When calling or emailing the office regarding a student being out for an illness, please indicate the signs and symptoms the child is experiencing. We work very close with Collin County Health Department to track certain illnesses. If there are multiple students with the same diagnosis in the classroom, we will notify you immediately and implement measures to prevent spread of disease. Thank you for your help!
If you have any questions or concerns, you can always reach me at the following!
Thank You!

Priorities Based Budget
You may provide ideas or feedback at www.friscoisd.org/budgetfeedback through November 18. All parents, staff and community members are invited to submit their ideas regarding District priorities and ideas for cost savings. All input will be taken seriously, and responses will be reviewed by the PBB committees and vetted for feasibility. This work will result in recommendations to the School Board in spring 2017 regarding long-term savings opportunities and strategies.
You can find budget information and follow along with the progress of the committees by reviewing meeting minutes. Everything is compiled at www.friscoisd.org/budget.
