Lakeview Weekly
Week of April 12th - 16th
Note From Principal Pete
Dear Parents and Guardians of #weRLVE Students,
Some of you have children beginning their MCA assessments this week. The Minnesota Comprehensive Assessments (MCA) are state tests in reading, mathematics and science for students in grades 3-5 that are used to meet federal and state legislative requirements. The tests are administered every year to measure student performance relative to the Minnesota Academic Standards that specify what students in a particular grade should know and be able to do.
Even though this test (as well as academics) is important to us, it's not the only thing we use to measure the effectiveness of our school. Creating well rounded children (focusing on the whole child) is just as important to us as academics are. Our staff does an excellent job preparing our kids for this test and they will do well. Please make sure your kids are at school the next couple of weeks and that they are well rested and have a good breakfast.
I am sharing a note with you that was recently shared with me that I found interesting. It reminded me that our kids have many gifts and talents and the MCAs are only a "test." No matter how they do - our kids will be successful in whatever they do in life. Enjoy!
Pete

Virtual Referendum Parent Meeting: Monday, April 12th 8 p.m.
#weRLVE Parents,
All district parents are invited to a virtual referendum parent information meeting to be held on Monday, April 12 at 8 p.m. with Superintendent Michael Baumann.
On May 11th, Lakeville Area School district residents will vote whether to approve funding to build and equip a new elementary school, including the purchase of land. The referendum request is in response to continued student and community growth, putting pressure on existing elementary school space. The School Board unanimously approved placing this request on a May 11 ballot following months of building planning discussions.
The Lakeville area is popular in large part due to the quality of our schools. According to the city of Lakeville, “Our community continues to see strong demand for housing development and is expected to see robust residential growth for the foreseeable future.”
RSVP to attend the meeting, please go to https://tinyurl.com/ISD194GrowingTogether
It’s important that our parents have the information to make an informed vote! Please watch a short informational video and get the fast facts at isd194.org/GrowingTogether.

City of Lakeville 2021 Street Rehabilitation Project
Hello,
I would like to inform you of the upcoming street improvement project near Lakeville South High School and Lakeview Elementary. The scope of work to take place on this project includes: pavement milling and overlay, minor utility improvements, spot curb/gutter replacement, and pedestrian curb ramp replacements.
This project may cause minor disruptions to pedestrians and vehicle traffic along Jacquard Avenue between upper 205th Street W and 210th Street W. Please note that the roads will be open to traffic at all times during construction. The concrete sidewalk along Jacquard Ave between Upper 205th Street W and 208th Street W will be closed, at some point, to pedestrian traffic due to the replacement of curb ramps.
I have attached the project phasing map, which includes anticipated dates of construction, for your reference. Please visit the 2021 Street Rehabilitation Project website to sign up for weekly email updates and find additional details about the project: https://www.lakevillemn.gov/1022/2021-Street-Rehabilitation-Project
If you have any questions, comments, or concerns please feel free to contact me directly.
Thank you,
