Vivaldi's Early Life.

Vivaldi was born in Venice on May 4, 1678 during the Baroque period. He was baptized immediately after birth due to "Danger of Death". Vivaldi had 4 sisters and 4 brothers. At age 15 he began to study to become a priest. Vivaldi had a medical problem named "Tightening of the chest" which would today be called asthma. However, his medical problem did not prevent him from engaging in many musical activities. His father was his only important teacher, and they sometimes played the violin together in church.

This map represents an accurate photo of what Venice, Italy might of looked like in the 17th century. Vivaldi spent most of his young childhood in Venice. When he turned 15 he decided to become a priest and was nicknamed the "Red Priest" because of his orange hair.

Vivaldi's Legacy

After 63 years Vivaldi's life came to an end. It was a tragic day but not many people were aware of what had happened. His music was slowly forgotten and did not appear until 200 years later, which is now known as one of the best pieces of music to have ever been created. Even though no one knew about him for 200 years that didn't mean that his music and great legacy would ever been created.
