MCSG Elections for Class Reps and Issue-Based Officers start next week!
MCSG Projects & Initiatives
Harm Reduction: Rep. Joel Sadofsky is talking to constituents to begin drafting proposals for increased harm reduction and drug adulterant/substance checking resources provided by the college.
MCSG Tabling: Filing for the Class Representatives and Issue-based Officers elections begin Sunday, March 27. MCSG will be tabling in the Campus Center throughout the week of March 28th to promote these elections and answer student questions and concerns surrounding MCSG.

Mental Health & Insurance: We are working with the Hamre Center to understand insurance and mental health services.
Student Life Survey: Focus of the Student Life Survey this year include: Mental Health; Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion (specifically regarding bias incidences & safety); Student Compensation; Financial Need; MCSG-focus on Transparency; SSRC specific questions. Please reach out to ssrc@macalester.edu if you have questions you want included in the survey.

Library Textbook Reserve Program: Member Joel Sadofsky is working to improve the textbook reserve program. On 3/8/22 the LB passed Sadofsky's bill to raise funding for the textbook reserve program by 30% (funding hasn't been expanded in nearly 12 years). Following the passing of the bill, Sadofsky joined the Textbook Solutions Committee, which is currently drafting proposals for senior staff to address the financial burden of course materials on students.
Educator of the Year Award: The Educator of the Year Award (nominate here) is due March 25 at 11:59pm. It recognizes one staff and/or faculty member who has consistently supported students' holistic learning experience. Through this award, student nominators applaud an educator for their leadership, guidance, contribution, and commitment to campus life.
Outstanding Student Educator of the Year Award: The Outstanding Student Educator of the Year Award (nominate here) is due April 1 at 11:59pm. It aims to acknowledge the dedication of several student educators in making the learning experience at Macalester even more enriching for their peers. No personally identifiable content of the nomination form will be shared with anyone outside the Selection Committee without your permission. Student Organizations Committee (SOC)
Chartering New Orgs: SOC is in the midst of chartering new orgs this semester. All orgs that met the intake deadline earlier this semester are eligible to be chartered. We are hoping to have all new orgs chartered by 4/4.
Missed the New Org Intake Deadline?: If you missed the intake submission deadline to start a new org, you can still reach out to soc@macalester.edu to learn about the chartering process for next semester.
Org Advisor of the Year: SOC has opened nominations for James C. Hoppe Org Advisor of the Year. Nominate your org’s advisor here. Nominations are due April 15th.
Org Transition Process: The org transition process will drop on 3/30. Check your inbox then :) We will also be tabling in April to remind people to complete the transition process!

MAPCS: The Minnesota Association of Private College Students (MAPCS) will be holding its Spring Conference on April 2nd beginning at 11:00am on Zoom. Our theme this year for the conference is "Beneath the Surface, Understanding the Inequities Facing Private College Students" and will be broken up into three sections with a lunch-break in the middle. The sections will focus on Hunger-Free Campus, Mental Health and Burnout, and Racial Sensitivity and Training. Each section will have a speaker present, followed by questions and discussions surrounding the topic. RSVP HERE!
