Photosynthesis
The process of making food by using sunlight. It produces glucose (sugar) and oxygen, which is a waste product.

Photosynthesis Vocabulary
Label each leaf with a vocabulary word and write the definition on the opposite leaf.
Photosynthesis Article
Read the article and take notes on the important information that you need to remember.
Turn to your neighbor and explain the role of each part of the flower:
Take notes on your foldable.
Flower Petals
The petal absorbs energy from the sun and uses it to produce sugar. Solar Energy is converted into Chemical Energy!
Stem
The xylem of the stem transports the water from the flower and leaves. The phloem transports the sugar throughout the flower.
Leaves
Leaves are green because they contain chlorophyll. Chlorophyll absorbs red and blue light, but reflects green light! The leaf cells make sugar out of H20 and carbon dioxide.
Roots
Water is absorbed through the roots. The roots also take minerals and nutrients from the soil. The xylem transports the water from the roots.
