Please read the following announcements carefully as well as any attached flyers.
April Calendar Highlights:
April 8th- Practice EOC Biology I

April 20th- STAAR 5th and 8th Math
Closed campus; no parents allowed on campus of any grade level
April 21st- STAAR 3, 4, 6 and 7 Math and 8 Social Studies
Closed campus; no parents allowed on campus of any grade level
April 22nd- STAAR 3, 4, 6 and 7 Reading and 5/8 Science

April 23rd- STAAR make-up test day

April 30th- Talent Show @ 6
Chromebooks: We will begin collecting student issued Chromebooks on Monday, May 5th beginning with 8th grade. Students
are responsible for returning their Chromebook in good, working condition. They must also return the Chromebook charger. The
fees associated with the Chromebook are as follows: Charger replacement: $55; Keyboard replacement: $60; Chromebook
replacement: $450.00. If your student's Chromebook is damaged and you would like to submit an insurance claim, please do so
in the Front Office no later than Friday, April 17th (please note that all submitted insurance forms must be approved by the
insurance company; if the Chromebook is unable to be repaired by the insurance company, then you will be responsible for the
cost to replace or repair).
Lunch Accounts: Students who have a negative balance of $10 or more on their lunch account effective Wednesday, April 1,
2015 will no longer be able to purchase a lunch from the school until their balance is paid. You are able to make payment in the
Front Office or via the parent portal.
STAAR: During STAAR Testing, students will be provided sack lunches for school lunch. Please be sure to make note of these
days for testing students will be eating their sack lunches, either bought from school or brought from home, in their classrooms.
Students will NOT have microwave access on these days.
Also, during STAAR please help to make sure your child gets a good night sleep. The school will be providing a small breakfast
for all students that are STAAR testing on the days their grade is testing.
Fundraiser:
We will have a second fundraiser beginning Monday, March 30th- Thursday, April 30th. The prizes will be as follows: For 1 box
sold you will receive a $15 gift card. For 2 boxes sold, you will receive a $30 gift card and a free dress day pass. Therefore, if
you sell 3 boxes, you will receive a $45 gift card and 1 free dress day pass. If you sell 4 boxes, you will receive a $60 gift card
and 2 free dress passes. Please help support this fundraiser as all funds received goes back to the students for different school
activities.
Note from Nurse Carmen: Please do not send any type of medication; prescription or non-prescription to school with
your child. If they need to have medicine at school please bring it to the front office and get it checked into the nurse. Also,
if you student is missing a Harmony Jacket size small to large please have them check with the nurse.
Wednesday Mail: Additional copies of the weekly Wednesday Mail and flyers are always available in the Front Office. Please check
www.hsbdallas.org regularly for most current updates and announcements.

Athletic Field Donations: We have added a link on the HSB website for donations for the athletic field. You can still send
checks to the front office, but we thought some might like this option better. Anyone can use this option so please spread this
information to any possible donor.
Lost and Found: All items in the lost and found will be donated this Friday the 10th; please have your child take a look to see if
anything belongs to them by Friday.

Festival Spirit Shirts on SALE
The Festival Shirts are on sale now, and the sale will end on April 14th, so order yours now! There are 3 ways to order:

You can also print the attached form and place in our drop box in the lobby with your payment (please fill it out completely
with size and student/parent info)
We will be in the lobby taking credit card and cash orders this week on Wednesday and Friday from 7:50-8:30 am, and next
week on Monday from 7:50-8:30.
Please see the attached flyer for the Spring and STEM Festivals. We will begin selling festival tickets and VIP parking passes at
a discount soon, so look for announcements and save on ticket prices.
Silent Auction Donations
We are holding a silent auction during the Spring Festival this year too, and attached you will find theme assignments for each
grade. Each grade is asked to donate a large basket as well. PLEASE hold on to your good size Easter baskets and donate
them to our auction. We are also soliciting donated basket items from local business, so if you know of any that might donate
additional items, give them a call or let us know and we will contact them. We ended up with some great baskets last year, let’s
try to top it this year.
AT&T Job Shadow Program
Last Monday ninth grade visited AT&T headquarters in downtown Dallas. Students toured their facilities and met with AT&T
professionals to learn about their careers. Students observed science, technology, engineering, math, and business education
in action and gained a new appreciation for its importance in today's modern workforce.
Soccer T-Shirts
Soccer Season is officially underway! Parents and students can now place an order for soccer t-shirts through April 10th! The shirts are $10 and you can get an order form in the front office or from Coach Watts! Show some support for HSB and our soccer team by purchasing a shirt today! Please pay in the front office with card, check or money order…no cash.
