PROJECT UPDATES
Campus Center Addition!
The Sustainability Office has installed new waste receptacles in Campus Center! Make sure to recycle what you can, and be mindful of what waste you are creating!
Still composting!
We're still composting, Tuesdays at 4PM! Come by to volunteer, and make sure you're composting your tea bags, egg shells, fruits, vegetables, and dry (sauce and oil free) breads!

Tire Community Area!
SMCM's Community Arts class created a collaborative outdoor space out of recycled tires right outside of the library. Go outside and enjoy it!

Take our annual sustainability survey! Let us know what you think about the office, our sustainability initiatives, and what SMCM should focus on the future.
Applied Sustainability Practicum Update
ENST450, our Applied Sustainability Practicum at St. Mary's, has been working all semester on individual campus-centered sustainability projects. Here's a taste of what they've been working on:
- Implementing a peer led, Eco-Rep education program into curriculum
- Increasing efficiency of waste disposal at the Grab-and-Go
- Changing procurement and consumption habits at the Grab-and-Go
- Updating requirements for SMCM's greenhouse gas inventory
- Implementing lighting energy efficiency projects in campus buildings
- Organizing a campus-wide day of service
- Creating a sustainable campus cookbook
- Revitalizing our campus's healing garden
- Creating an EnvironMentors program to link SMCM faculty and St. Mary's county public schools
- Incorporating athletic facilities in sustainable consideration on campus
- Recording the history of sustainability at St. Mary's
- Working to create less paper use on campus through encouraging Blackboard use and thoughtful printing
- Tracking ENST SMCM after-graduate life to create an alum-student network

"Have some old things that you don't want? Bring them to the SMCM Freecycle! We accept anything that you think someone else will be able to use, including old clothes, furniture, working electronics, cookware, etc.

The Campus Farm's Farmival
"Come celebrate the 5-year anniversary of the farm in style! Enjoy games, food, music and a tour of the farm (and our new greenhouse!).
There will be henna, yoga, guest music performances by your fellow students, and the recycled art show exhibit!"

Green Cup Reception
The closing reception for green cup has been MOVED to tomorrow, April 28th, 4PM at the WC firepit. Come out to see how your team did, hear about who won the raffle prizes, and enjoy a bonfire!

Come out to Farmival to see us! We'll be selling these patches, running our clothes swap, and talking about sustainability at St. Marys.
