WHS Principal Update
November 21, 2023
Greetings WHS Community,
Another short week this week as we prepare for the Thanksgiving Break. Tomorrow we will have a shortened day with a 10:45 dismissal. Any students who will be dismissed must be dismissed before 10am as the whole school will be at the Pep Rally in the gym. As we begin the holiday season, I certainly understand that this time of year, for various reasons, can be challenging for individuals and families. If there is any way we can support your child during this heightened time over the next several weeks please let us know.
To all of you who celebrate, please have a Happy and safe Thanksgiving.
Best,
Darrell Braggs
New Announcements:
- Physical report cards were distributed on Thursday to your child. This has not been a practice since COVID and we plan on bringing this back for the foreseeable future. Progress reports will be given out on December 8.
- Thank you to all of you who filled out the Panorama Survey. We had over 300 respondents which is our highest ever in the history survey! But that is still only a small fraction of our population, so we will be reaching out again in the spring. We will review the survey results and review areas of improvement for ourselves and also understand what is already working.
- Please see the attached flyer from Wayside
- Here are several flyers for the Waltham Police Youth Leagues.
High School Happenings
Announcements
- In the month of December, the High School will be presenting its 2 year School Improvement Plan. Every school in the district has been developing plans and will be presenting at school committee meetings. I will give our school community an opportunity to offer feedback on a draft plan before presenting. Any successful School Improvement Plan needs to be executed by all members of the school community, which is why families should get an opportunity to review.
- Construction will continue for the foreseeable future. It is important that families accessing the property by vehicle please plan accordingly for traffic on Lexington St. We are also enforcing our drop-off system so students and staff can safely access the building and not create traffic accessing the property. Attached is a picture of how drop-off should happen. Please be respectful to Waltham Police officers and school staff guiding and enforcing the drop-off procedure.
- Please see the flyers for the upcoming food pantries
- Please the flyer from the Waltham Rec Department
