Dear Parents and Carers,
Well, what a busy week we have had in school this week! There has been lots of amazing work going on and our staff and pupils should be very proud of all they have achieved.
We started the week with class photos which we were able to take outside as the weather has been so lovely. These will be coming out to you soon.
On Tuesday, some of the children in Tigers class represented the school at the Trust's Great Science Share. This was a wonderful event involving all of the MAT primary schools showcasing the fantastic work they have been doing to learn about and investigate their keystone animal. The children were able to speak knowledgeably about the work they had done at the Yorkshire Wildlife Park and what they had learnt. They gave a wonderful presentation to a large crowd (see pictures below) and Mrs Fitzpatrick and I were super proud of how they represented our school. Well done to those children, you were amazing!
On Wednesday, the whole of KS2 went to Countryside Day at the Yorkshire Showground for a day packed with interesting talks and activities including pond dipping, cooking with herbs, a whole variety of craft activities, birds of prey and even sheep dancing! It was a great day in the sunshine and again the children represented our school fantastically whilst learning and having fun in the outdoors. Thank you very much to all the parents who accompanied us on this trip.
We ended the week with an informal coffee morning for parents in the hall. This was a chance to meet and chat with other parents and a few staff informally. The next coffee morning will be on Friday 9th September in the new school year. Please come along!
Finally, I end this week with the news that Mrs Fitzpatrick will be leaving us at the end of this school year to move onto pastures new. Mrs Fitzpatrick has been at Kirk Fenton for several years and will be missed but we wish her well in her new role. We have been very lucky to recruit two new teachers - Mr Priory and Mr Carman will be starting with us in September. They were both very impressive at interview so we are really looking forward to them joining our school.
Have a lovely weekend,
Karen Williams

Numbots
Well done KS1 and FS, there were lots and lots of names in the raffle box this week! Congratulations to Freddie T and Sophie P who collected their prizes! Next week's challenge is to get 25 correct answers throughout the week to earn a raffle ticket, I wonder who next week's winners will be?
Special congratulations to our certificate winners this week, Freddie T, Huey W, Sophie P and Tom O. Well done!
Times Tables Rock Stars
This week saw the start of our raffle competition. Children who had been on for an average of 5 minutes, entered the raffle. This saw two KS2 and two KS1 winners. Only 6 children managed over 5 minutes this week. Hopefully we will see more in the raffle pot next week. Next week, the challenge is to get 50 correct answers. If you do, you will enter the raffle.
Our certificate winners this week are: Mollie in Tigers, Sam in Sharks, Tikhon in Earthworms, and Alex in Jaguars. Well done to all!
