Update for Hurricane Make Up Days
if you like it please put your name on it
Now that fall weather is here, students are starting to wear warmer clothing to school. PLEASE print your child's name in all jackets, coats, hats, scarves, and lunch boxes so that if the items become separated from the student, we can reunite them. All items that have no name in them are donated to a local charity on the last school day of each month.

Fernbank Science Center is Celebrating 50 Years
Since 1967, Fernbank Science Center has supported science education in DeKalb County School District and the wider community. Nearly every student who has attended a DeKalb school has experienced planetarium shows in the Jim Cherry Memorial Planetarium, gone for nature walks in Fernbank Forest or through the Reach Program, or had a Fernbank Science Center Science Specialist teach them at their school or in the labs at the center. Generations of students have been touched with what the science center has to offer. We invite all of DeKalb to celebrate this golden anniversary with us in 2017 and 2018 at the following special programs:
Saturday, October 28, 2017 Fun with Flashlights! The youngest scientists put on their costumes and bring flashlights to the planetarium for a fun activity in the dark.
Saturday, November 11, 2017 Chemistry Day: Meet the Elements! Explore the chemical world around us at our Chemistry Day with hands-on experiments and demonstrations, and our famous Chemical Magic Show.
Friday, December 1, 2017 John Serrie Holiday 50 Year Anniversary Concert The magic of the holidays celebrated through music in the Jim Cherry Planetarium.
Look for more details for each of these events and the complete event list through 2018 on our website fsc.fernbank.edu.
