Optional COVID testing now available at the ESC
The District is now offering optional COVID testing to our staff, students, and parents. Both Rapid and PCR tests are available. The testing will take place at the Educational Services Center (850 Ladd Road, Building D Walled Lake, MI 48390) on Tuesdays and Fridays from 2-7 p.m.
The COVID testing staff, provided by a third party, will be responsible for letting people in the side door on the south side of the building.
· If you have insurance, your insurance provider will be billed.
· If you do not have insurance, there is a cost of $110.00 for a PCR test and $50.00 for a rapid test - This comes as a result of the Federal Government no longer providing funding for testing.
There will be signage placed both inside and outside of the building. To set up an appointment for testing, please complete this requisition form.

Girls on the Run 2022
As I shared last week, we are so excited to have a Spring Girls on the Run. We very grateful to Mrs. Grinnell and Mrs. Fegely for their willingness to coach, making our team possible.
At this time, very few 4th or 5th girls have joined so we are able to offer this our 3rd grade girls too! (We need a minimum of 5 girls to run the program.)
Below is the link to register! Our first practice is Wednesday, April 6th.

The Bond construction has begun at Oakley Elementary School. We are so excited to see the construction begin on our new gymnasium! Due to the new gymnasium construction, Ms. Mills' classroom has moved into our former computer lab and Ms. Vining will teaching Music in each of the classrooms. During the construction of the new gym a large part of our soccer field area (west side of the building) will be fenced in. Walkers will still be able to walk through the back of the playground from Ashton Park subdivision. Instead of crossing the soccer field, they will walk across the back of the building and enter through the last set of doors on the parking lot side.
The entire construction area has been fenced to ensure the safety of our students during recess times. Our play structures and the blacktop, play-pad in the northwest corner of the playground are open for our students. Our playground staff and Watch DOGS will continue to keep a careful eye on our Owls during recess!
Although the construction activity might feel a bit inconvenient now, once the updates have been made throughout our school, I know it will be worth it. In the end, we will have a beautifully update school!
Scope of work:
- New lighting throughout the building
- Media Center renovation
- Gymnasium addition
- Restroom upgrades/improvements
- New carpet throughout
- New Roof
- Entrance Canopy Modifications
- Security Upgrades
- Network Upgrades
- Cafeteria Renovations (current gymnasium will be the new cafeteria)
- Music Room Renovations (the current cafeteria will be the new music room)
WATCH D.O.G.S
Calling all Dads, Step-dads, Granddads, Uncles, and other father-figures/male adult role models!
Join our WATCH D.O.G.S Team!
What is WATCH D.O.G.S?

Why implement Watch D.O.G.S at Oakley Park?
To provide positive male role models for the students, demonstrating by their presence that education is important.
To provide extra sets of eyes and ears to enhance school security and support students with conflict resolution.
Support school community relationships.
What is expected of a WATCH D.O.G.?
Support on the playground
Guide conflict resolution
Safety-reporting all injuries/concerns to playground staff
Encourage students to be active, play games, and be involved!
Support in the parking lot during dismissal

What is the time commitment of a WATCH D.O.G?
We welcome our D.O.G.S based on what works best for their schedules! We use a SignUp Genius for scheduling so you can sign up for the date(s) that work best for your schedule. There is no required number of times…you could volunteer once a month, once a week or once between now and June!
Below are two documents that need to be completed (sign and return to school) to officially get started as a volunteer. Once these forms have been received, you will be set a link to the Sign-Up Genius WATCH D.O.G. site.
Thank you so much for your interest in the program and for supporting our Owls! We are excited to welcome you to the playground and/or parking lot!
