Message from Mrs. Adams
Attendance matters! I would like to stress the importance of regular attendance to ensure the success of each of our students. Please review the following attendance reminders:
Monday-Thursday: Attendance will be taken at school for in person days. E.D.G.E students will continue to do attendance as normal for the online program.
Fridays: Virtual learning is required. Students must participate in virtual learning and complete assignments to be counted present.
Tardies: Car rider doors are locked at 7:40 AM. Students are counted tardy if they are not in their Leader in Me class by 7:40. Please plan to arrive each morning so your child has enough time to get to class by 7:40.
Thank you for your continued support of GMS,
Mrs. Rachel Adams
Principal

GMS Information and Announcements
School Climate Survey
Our school is conducting a survey about school climate and learning in school. The survey will help us create safe and supportive school environments that promote academic success. In prior years, schools have used this information to drive positive changes for student and staff culture. We would very much appreciate your help by completing the short survey at the link below. Your perceptions about your child’s school will help us identify what we are doing well, and what we need to do better.
If you have more than one child in this school, you may pick which one you want to think about when answering the questions. This survey is anonymous. No one will know which answers come from you, and it will not be possible to connect your answers to your child in any way. The parent survey link can be found by clicking: survey link. Survey in Spanish: survey link. If you have questions about completing this survey, please contact Dr. Rashida Askia at (615) 418-0581 or Rashida.Askia@tn.gov. Students also will be given the survey online during LIM on March 10th.
We are also asking permission for your child to complete the survey. The survey is voluntary. The survey includes questions about student relationships with teachers, school principals, and other students; school safety, bullying, and substance use; and school rules and the school environment. However, note that there is a delay between the administration of the survey and the analysis of data, so the TN School Climate Survey should not be viewed as a means of communicating health or safety risks.
The survey is voluntary. Students who take the survey may skip any question they do not want to answer or may stop taking the survey at any time. Your child’s teacher will be there to help answer questions.
This survey is designed to be anonymous and your child will be asked not to provide their name or any identifying information. Any personnel who have access to the TN School Climate Survey data are required to maintain the confidentiality of these data.
This survey is sponsored by the Tennessee Department of Education. The survey will be administered to ALL students online March 10th, 2021. The survey will take about 15-20 minutes to complete and will be done during LIM class.
On Monday, Feb 22nd your child will receive a letter in LIM to bring home about the survey. If you do not want your child to participate in the survey, sign the form and return it to the school within three days. You may contact Mrs. Lewit: lewite@gcschools.net with any questions about the survey or to let her know you do not want your child taking the survey. You may also contact Dr. Rashida Askia with the Tennessee Department of Education at Rashida.Askia@tn.gov with questions.
Students who are in the Edge program are receiving this letter via mail. However, due to the backlog of the USPS (because of COVID 19), you may not receive this mailed survey in a timely manner. Therefore, if you are an Edge parent or guardian who does NOT want your child taking the survey please email: lewite@gcschools.net. Edge students will also take the survey online on March 10th 2021 during LIM.
