Varsity Girls Basketball - Coach Parker
The varsity girls basketball team is the 2020 Tonganoxie Invitational champions! The girls set the tone Tuesday night beating Metro Academy 52-18. Leading scorers were sophomore Harper Schreiner with 14 and senior Riley Hiebert with 10. The girls picked up their second-round win Friday night over a talented DeSoto team, 54-44. The game was a defensive battle in which every cardinal player locked in and put in their best defensive game of the season. Junior Jayla Pierce dominated the boards on both ends with a total of 11 on the night. Cardinals scoring in double figures for the DeSoto game were senior Reagan Hiebert, Riley, Hiebert, and Harper Schreiner. The girls finished up business Saturday afternoon defeating Sumner Academy 57-40 in the championship game. Scoring leaders in the championship game were Jayla Pierce, Riley Hiebert, and Harper Schreiner.
Four players from the EHS girls basketball team made the Tonganoxie Invitational All-Tournament Team. Reagan and Riley Hiebert were named to the All-tournament team. Jayla Pierce was awarded the most inspirational player. Harper Schreiner was awarded tournament MVP. Congratulations, ladies!!

JV Boys Basketball - Coach Watkins
On Saturday, January 25th EHS hosted the EHS JV tourney. In the first game, EHS JV took on Osawatomie JV. We started a little flat but soon got with it real quick and started to run and get busy. By halftime we had them doubled up and on their back heels. We continued with the same 2nd half and played really well. Also had two boys take charges. We were led by Traeger Radar (10th) with 18 pts, 8 rebounds and Kale H. (9th) 10 pts, 5 Asst.
In the second game, we took on Prairie View JV. We started hot and ended hot on this one. EHS came out hitting shots and running with the basketball but it started on the defensive end. Very glad we took care of business from the get-go and actually held for a whole game. Had another two boys take charges in this game which is the biggest sacrifice on the court. We were led by Traeger Radar (10th) with 18 pts, 11 rebounds and Landon W. (10th) 13pts, 6 reb, 6 Asst, 5 Stls.
Everyone contributed in both games and worked very hard. Big week ahead with 3 games in 5 days. Let’s Go Cards!!!
