It's a Parking Lot Parade!
Dear Sorrick Families,
It has been a difficult past few weeks without the opportunity to see our Sorrick students, and many of you have shared how much your children wish that they could see their teachers again. When the extension of our school closure was recently announced, we decided that our entire school community could benefit from a fun opportunity to see each other once again. We are excited to announce that this Saturday, May 2nd, we will host a parking lot parade at Sorrick and Oak Ridge Schools! What makes a parking lot parade different from a traditional parade? At this event, Sorrick teachers and staff will stand along a parade route surrounding our school and families are invited to drive through the parade and be surrounded by smiles, waves and cheers!
Each grade level will have a separate parade time allowing them an exclusive opportunity to see their teachers. The Pre-K parade will be from 10:00-11:00 AM, kindergarten will be from 11:15-12:15, and first grade will be from 12:30-1:30 PM. If you have children at both Sorrick and Oak Ridge, you will be able to travel from one school to another so that your children can enjoy the event together. We hope that you will see just how much our staff have missed you, and we are looking forward to seeing you!
It is important to note that safety is extremely important to us. In working with the Palos Hills Police Department, only families arriving in vehicles will be permitted. Families should not gather outside to watch the parade either at school or in the neighborhood. Our staff will maintain a safe distance from one another throughout the event, and vehicles should travel in a single lane surrounding the building. We will be recording a video of this event to share with all families, so in the event that you are unable to attend, we hope that you will enjoy watching this video from the comfort of your home. Please see the flyer for details:
