Macbeth Act 1 Scene 1
1971 Roman Polanski Vs. 2006 Geoffry Wright
Who's better?
There are two film versions of the play Macbeth that i thought was intriguing. there is the Roman Polanski 1971 version and the Geoffry Wright 2006 version. the 1971 version was more accurate because it showed more detail described in the play and it also correlates with the limited stage directions given. I prefer the 1971 version over the other because it just seem more relevant to the play and gives you a good understanding on what going on.
The Weather Forecast
One difference i noticed between the two version is the weather. In the play it was storming and there was lightning, in the 1971 version it didn't show lightning but it depicted something may occur . In the 2006 version it was in the middle of the day, and it was sunny without any sign of a storm.
The Appearance Of The Witches
The witches in the play were waaaayy different from the ones in the films. 1971 version came close because the witches were old, and dirty with scattered rags. In the 2006 version the witches were school girls and and look like nice young girls, until they went crazy on a graveyard.
The way they act.
It was never told in Macbeth that the witches were aggressive and very destructive. In the 2006 version the witches were destroying a graveyard but if they are the 'Weird Sisters", why would they lower themselves to desecrating physical property when they can have more fun tormenting people's lives. The 1971 version stuck to the roots of the story and showed a ritual that could actually be similar to the one in the play
