Trojan Times Elementary Update
For the week of September 11th-15th
DREAM BIG
WEEKLY RECAP
It was another great week at Parkston Elementary! Even though we only had four days together, we maximized the time we had and made it a great week.
This week we had the challenge of evacuating the building as a precaution due to a funky smell in the high school science wing. Students and staff handled this unexpected event with grace, poise, and confidence. Thankfully, everything turned out ok, but I'm so proud of all the staff and students and their reaction to the evacuation process.
Begindergarten had a fun day on Thursday as they welcomed in parent volunteers and they all worked together to make apple sauce. It looked like a very fun morning!
Second grade PE class had an active week. I enjoyed observing Mr. Boehmer teach the movements of a cherry picker and a walking lunge. It's fun to see the kids learning new movements and starting to see them understand how their muscles work.
I also had the pleasure of watching a first grade group go through their lesson on mindset. I was blown away by their observations and thoughts about the importance hard work and determination. It was also fun to hear about their dreams of what they want to be when they grow up.
We finished the week on Friday with a short assembly celebrating our mindset, Everything is Possible. We talked, watched a video, played a game, and finished with some singing :) IT was a very positive assembly and fun way to start our day and end our week.
