GRIFFIN CREEK BEAVERTALES
January 10, 2020
Dear Griffin Creek Families,
Welcome to 2020 at Griffin Creek! I hope that you had an opportunity to spend some quality time with family over the winter break. I know I am back rested and refreshed. Being about half way through our school year, it is an important time to review with students expectations throughout the school.
Griffin Creek uses Positive Behavior and Intervention Support (P.B.I.S.) as our school-wide management plan. The P.B.I.S. framework is based on pre-teaching all expected behaviors and reinforcing students when they demonstrate those expected behaviors. Our school wide rules are Be Safe, Be Respectful, and Be Responsible. It is important for students to know what it looks like to be Safe, Respectful and Responsible in the different zones of our school. We do this at the beginning of the year, and to start semester 2, coming right up!
This year we will be utilizing expectation stations to reteach expected behaviors in each area of the school. Grades 1-5 will travel to each station and review the rules for that area with the monitors that oversee it. Sixth graders are working in a leadership role with kindergarten on the stations. All students will get a stamp on their expectation station "Passport." Students who successfully complete the passport will earn a fun prize.
These stations will be happening Monday-Wednesday of next week with different times for each class. Ask your student how they are doing earning their passport stamps! We appreciate your support.
I hope to see many of you this week for Coffee and Donuts or Tea and Treats on the 15th. I am looking forward to sharing what is happening at Griffin Creek and hearing from you all.
Wishing you a very happy new year!
Kind Regards,
Erika Bare

Innovation Learning After School Program
All of us at the Innovation Learning after school care immensely enjoyed getting this new program up and running during the fall semester. It was a transition for everyone involved and we’d like to thank all school staff and parents for their support. But the real lifeblood of the program has been the enthusiasm and creativity of the students.Their inspiring ideas come through in the projects and group games that are part of the Innovation Learning curriculum and they consistently leave the IL staff and myself impressed. As we enter 2020, we look forward to seeing what modifications the kids will bring to our STEAM and Discovery Play activities this semester. - Justin Thibedeau, Medford Area Director
