First Nine Weeks Edition

Great Start to the School Year!

It has been a great start to the 2019-2020 school year at SCES. We have implemented so many positive changes in our building and corporation! We appreciate all the hard work and perseverance from our students and families.

Our Positive Pacer Referrals have started going home and I am so happy to see all of our students making positive choices on the bus and at school. I love that we are looking for the good in every single one of our students!

Our first Pancakes with Pacers was last week and we had a great turnout! Tuesday, October 22nd is our next Pancakes with Pacers from 7:00-8:30 for students in grades 4-6. If you missed us last week, you are welcome to come on the 22nd. Come have breakfast with your favorite Pacer.

Report Cards went home last week in time for parents to review them before our Parent/Teacher Conferences. Please do not forget to schedule a time with your child's teacher to meet that day. It's the perfect opportunity to discuss your child's achievement. While this conference is important, we look forward to continuing the line of communication between you and your child's teachers.

Thank you for a great nine weeks! I look forward to the rest of the school year!

Congratuations!

Congratulations to Ryli Collins, Kendyll Walker, Madison Fugate, Scott Cunningham, Kelcie Jordan, Anna Mills and Patrick Browning on having their piece of art chosen for the Giant Coloring Book Mural. With over 50 entries, Mrs. Tressler guided students to create their entries. All of the winners won an award and got to attend a special unveiling of the mural. The mural will be up through November to color. The mural was made possible with a grant from the Switzerland County Community Foundation working with the Community Art Center of Switzerland County and by donations from local businesses: Fisher Real Estate, Creative Images, Projekt Works, and Vevay Vintage Prop & Shop.

AEP - Attend & Engage (Attendance) Program

Our Attend & Engage Program has been a wonderful resource in our building this school year as it has the capability to provide resources for families that may need some additional help. Attendance is an important key to a child's success! Click on the button below to find more information on AEP in case you missed it back in August.

Red Ribbon Week! October 28-November 1

This year's Red Ribbon Week will run from October 28 - November 1.

This year we will also focus on Drug and Bully Awareness! As always we will have specific dress-up days that we encourage students to participate in. November 1st will be our dress up like a Super Hero day and will coincide with our Fall Party day! Dress up information will go out this week.

For grades 3-6, Natalie Williams and Jeff Theetge will talk to our students about the implications of drugs and strategies to 'Just say No!'.

Upcoming Events

Parent/Teacher Conference Day

Thursday, October 24th will be parent/teacher conferences. Please make sure your form has been sent in to your child's teacher with at least three time choices picked. This year's parent/teacher conference format means students will have an eLearning Day on the 24th. Students will not report to school that day and work will be sent home. Teachers have a designated time during the day that they can answer questions. This time will be communicated by the teacher.

Fall Party Change

Our Fall Party date has changed to November 1st. This is a change from the calendar that was sent out earlier this month. Our fall party will be the same week as a our Red Ribbon week (October 28- November 1).

Veteran's Day Program

Our Veteran's Day program is set for Monday, November 11th at 9:00. We invite our veterans and families to attend this program. Please check out our Facebook page for a link to nominate a Veteran for our program.
