Glows

Thank you for your hard work and attention to writing Report Cards. I am working my way through reading them and always appreciate your positive tone but firm areas of focus for each child. The cards reflect your professionalism and skill.

Thank you to second grade for organizing the Potluck Breakfast for Friday. I'm sad I missed it but it looked fun and it is always great when everyone can together on a non-student day.

Lastly, part of creating strong students is attending to more than just academic needs. There are so many great things going on each day that transcend just academics. This includes teachers writing good news referrals, spending time to talk character each week, checking in with students each morning, practicing mindfulness, and even taking the time to set SEL and behavior goals for students/classes. I am proud to know you all.

Honor Roll/MAP Growth Celebratin

We will host our Second Trimester 4th/5th Grade Honor Roll and Winter MAP growth celebration on Friday, March 13th at 8:30 AM. Last year, we recognized students who made great growth and who had high achievement on MAP ELA and MAP Math. All fourth and fifth grade students will attend and select 2nd-5th graders will attend. I will finalize MAP recognition names by Tuesday so you know who is being recognized.

MAP Data Continued

I know some of you have dissected your own class and have reviewed the reports I sent via email. An additional report is Projected Proficiency. This report projects the CAASPP performance of Cordelia Hills for Spring 2020.

Focus on the pie charts (Green and Blue are considered proficient). If the projections hold up, we would see a sizable dip in CAASPP scores over last year. Our projections last Winter were also lower and our students and teachers did the work to see some spring growth and that was reflected in our CAASPP scores in 2019. I expect we will be able to see the same progress between now and CAASPP.

FAQ for Corona Virus

Also, thank you for allocating time for students to wash hands. I know it can be time consuming and messy but it is important. Lastly, please avoid asking parents for table wipes. I appreciate your help during this period!

Family Reading Night/BOGO Book Fair

Family Reading Night is this Wednesday! This happens to be happening the same day as the BOGO Book Fair. The book fair starts right after school and will run the length of the afternoon and until the end of Family Reading Night. Thanks to Nic, Jennifer, Tory and many others for working on this. Also, Nic shared this last week but check it out:
