Reflections to Guide Your Journey
From this description, what are your talents vs. your skills?
Think of your current skill set. How have you built your skills around your talents?
What are vital characteristics needed in a leader? How can you recognize and learn from someone who demonstrates these natural talents?
Speaking of Talent……. Congratulations to the two newest members of the GCS Administrative Team! Karen Brock will assume the role of Principal for Waterford Elementary School and
Cathy DeMeyer was recently appointed as the new GHS Assistant Principal. Make sure to congratulate these new team members!
Summer is quickly approaching:
· The last Student Day on May 29th is a LATE ARRIVAL DAY, since it is the first scheduled day of the week.
· Summer school contracts will be in your buildings on May 30th for distribution. This means we must have all of your recommendations entered into the Google doc by the end of the day on Tuesday, May 22nd.
· District TAP Leadership Institute is scheduled for May 31 and June 1 at the West Goshen Church of the Brethren. Continental breakfast will be at 7:30 and the training agenda will begin at 8:00 on both days. We will adjourn by 3:30 each day. Watch your email for more details in the next week.
· Four day work weeks begin the week of June 4th, excluding the week of July 4th, and we return to five day work weeks beginning the week of July 30th.

4. Preliminary plans for New Teacher Orientation; August 1, 2, 3
Based on the feedback from new teachers, we have revised the New Teacher Orientation schedule to allow for more time in the schools and in their classrooms. We have also built in some time for them to get to know principals and members of the school leadership teams. Here is a draft of our preliminary plans:
August 1 – Breakfast at GHS Cafeteria. All administrators, master teachers and mentor teachers are invited and encouraged to attend. Breakfast will be sponsored by Kiwanis. We will encourage the new teachers to sit with their school team to enjoy breakfast and some time to get better acquainted.
The rest of the morning, new teachers will be at the Admin Center, ending with lunch by the Chamber. They will be released to schools after lunch.
August 2 – Breakfast will be sponsored by GEA and following breakfast, new teachers will spend the morning at the Admin Center. Lunch will be at InTerra and they will be released to schools and classrooms after lunch.
August 3 – New teachers will be in schools.
Enjoy your long weekend!
