St Bernadette's Primary School
NEWSLETTER | TERM 3 | WEEK 9 | 15 September 2023

Good Afternoon,
Our first week without the boss... and we not only survived but thrived! A heartfelt thank you to our incredible students for their efforts, to the parents for their continued support, and to our dedicated staff for all they do.
The Pre Primary classes embarked on a thrilling journey to the Zoo. The weather co operated, and all our students returned safely! They had an incredible time, and their excitement was palpable as they eagerly shared their stories. Thankfully, there were no stories involving flying possums!
We wrapped up the week with a meticulously organised and engaging Athletics Carnival. Witnessing our students cheering each other on and displaying exceptional sportsmanship is a genuine testament to what Bernie's stands for. A huge congratulations to all the medal winners and to McKillop House for their win! A heartfelt thanks to Mrs. Tara Bowe and Mrs. Kristy Watson for their outstanding dedication and organisational skills.
Next week marks St. Bernie's Cultural week. The festivities will kick off with a special assembly on Monday morning, and we extend a warm invitation to all parents to join us. Throughout the week, our students will participate in Cultural-themed activities, and we promise to capture and share these memorable moments on our Facebook page. Stay tuned!
As we head into the final week of this term, we're going out with a bang! Tuesday is our open night, and we encourage all parents and students to attend. This year, we're adding an exciting twist. Families will receive a Tour 'de Bernie's card upon arrival, along with unique clues. The first clue will be specific to your house, so don't just follow someone else! Once you decipher the clue and reach your designated destination, you'll be challenged to complete an engaging activity. After successfully completing each activity, you'll earn a stamp or sticker on your Tour 'de Bernie's card. Once the card is full, please drop it in your child's house box located outside the undercover area. The winning house will be announced in week 10, and students from that house will enjoy extra outdoor playtime! The night will conclude with a whole school jump jam at 6.20pm.
Unfortunately, the P&F regrets to inform you that our annual sausage sizzle which is held during Open Night, has been cancelled due to a shortage of volunteers. If any parents can spare some time to assist, kindly reach out to the P&F as soon as possible!
Finally, can I please give everyone a gentle reminder to be thinking about our school values of Kindness, Honesty and Respect in every conversation and interaction you have with all Bernie's staff members, we all have the children's best interest at heart.
Let's make our last week of this term unforgettable. See you all at our open night and Go the Blues!!!

Our Year 6 Wellbeing Captains and the Wellbeing Team hosted this event, with an important message for all- start a conversation. The Year 1 Blue Students taught us how to ask R U OK using signs. Here is a link to this beautiful demonstration of concern for the Wellbeing of another person.
