Happy New Year!!!
We have finally said good bye to 2020. We had many challenges, setbacks and struggles during 2020, but I am so proud of the progress we made, too! Students, parents and staff adapted to the changes, and we have come out wiser on the other side. We have no idea what the future has for us, but we know that whatever comes our way, we will face it together, and we will be successful!
We hope you all had a restful and healthy winter break. We are so excited to see all of your kiddos return on Wednesday!! Happy New Year!
What's Your Word for 2021??
As we begin 2021, we are looking to set goals for the spring semester. As a campus staff, we are going to select one word to focus our building to meet any challenges ahead and to fill any gaps in order to move students forward towards their own goals. As individuals, we are encouraging each staff member to select their own word to help motivate them to be at their best as we welcome students back next week. We invite you to do the same.
For me personally, my word is PRESENT. It is my goal to be more present for family, students, staff and parents. At times, the days and weeks move by so slow, but in the blink of an eye, months and years have flown by and we are amazed that it went so fast. I don’t want to miss those little things, so it is my goal to be present in every moment to learn, grow, build relationships, and enjoy the true gifts I have as a wife, mother, friend, co-worker and principal. I am blessed to be able to say that I love my job and this great community!
We invite you to join in and choose your one word for 2021! As we decide upon our one word for our campus, we will share it with you, and we will encourage you to share your word with us! We are excited to see our students back next week.
School Resumes on Wednesday, January 6
Just a reminder that students return on Wednesday, January 6. If your child is not feeling well, if they are symptomatic, if they have tested positive, or if they have been exposed to someone who has tested positive, please keep them home and email our campus nurse, Erika Gomez, at egomez@conroeisd.net or Dr. Vandermark at tvandermark@conroeisd.net so that we can help you determine if your child needs to stay home, or if they can return to school on Wednesday.
Whether your child has been with us all year, or if they are returning for the first time next week, here are some reminders about safety precautions that are in place this year:
- All students are required to wear their masks at all times, with the exception of lunch, or when outside engaged in an activity at PE or recess.
- There are no visitors allowed on campus at this time.
- We ask that no deliveries are made at this time. If your child forgets lunch, they can eat for free in the cafeteria. Other items can wait until the following day.
- Students need to maintain social distancing of 6 feet when possible. We have dots on the floor that help to keep that space when walking down the hallways.
- Students have assigned seating in the classroom, cafeteria, fine arts and PE, and on the bus.
- Students are encouraged to wash their hands throughout the school day. Every classroom has a sink, which makes it very easy to maintain good hygiene when in school.
- Send your child with a water bottle, as our water fountains are not in use at this time. We do have two touchless water bottle fillers in the building so that students can fill their water bottles throughout the school day. One is in the fine arts hallway, and one is in the middle of the 3rd grade hallway.
- Once school is back in session, if your child is not feeling well, or if they have been exposed to someone who has tested positive, please contact our campus nurse, Erika Gomez, at egomez@conroeisd.net. She will be able to help you and answer any questions you may have.

Changing Instructional Platforms for the Third Nine Weeks
If over the break you have decided that you would like to change your instructional platform for the third nine weeks, please let us know ASAP by emailing Dr. Vandermark at tvandermark@conroeisd.net so that we can make the change on Monday in preparation for students returning on Wednesday, January 6.
Students who are not being successful in the virtual setting will be asked to return to in person learning. Please let us know if you have questions about returning to in person learning.
Attendance When Learning Remotely
Assistance with Car Rider Line in the Morning
- As you get close to the cone area, ask your child to get all of their things together and ready to get out of the car: mask, backpack, water bottle, lunch kit
- Say your goodbyes before you get to the drop off spot
- As you pull up to the cone, have your child unbuckle to be ready when the staff member opens the car door.
These few things will help us quickly get students out of the car and ready for a great day at school. Ideally, we would like students at school at 7:35. That way, they can get breakfast, if needed, and can settle in to class for announcements at 7:45, and then get ready for their day. Thank you for your help with this!
