Community Connections in Orange County
Welcome to the Orange County Community Connections Monthly Newsletter. Here you will find information about the special gatherings we have planned for November.
You can find all our events in the Field Trip and Events (FTE) Inspire page where you will sign-up and RSVP for each event. Some of the field trips may have a cost. The price will listed in the FTE. All new events open for registration on Mondays at 8:00 am.
We will always keep the teenagers in mind at these events as well as plan some special gatherings just for them (see High School info near the bottom of this newsletter).
We look forward to facilitating connections, inspiring community, and enhancing the Adventure of Learning!

For your convenience, below are the 4 different service opportunities RSVP links for you and your family to help make an IMPACT on our community here in Orange County.

Nov. 6th: Battleship USS Iowa
Battleship USS Iowa Museum
250 S. Harbor Blvd, San Pedro, CA 90731
Come aboard and explore the Battleship USS Iowa Museum. We will meet in San Pedro and take a guided tour of this incredible ship. The tour will take about 90 minutes and end with a postcard writing activity aboard the USS Iowa. Postcards will then be collected and mailed to active military overseas in time for the holidays.
** Donation opportunity: Please bring a pair of new men or women’s socks to donate the USS Iowa. The USS Iowa is working with Packages for Patriots and sending the socks to our men and women serving overseas**
**Donation opportunity: Please bring your extra Halloween candy to donate to Packages for Patriots to be included in their care packages**
Nov. 13: IMPACT Day Operation Gratitude Adventure

Make a difference with other Inspire families as we impact our community! You will have the opportunity to bring donations to create a personalized care package for our military who are serving overseas. Each child will have the chance to sort and assemble items for their care package in grade-level groups. We will make paracord survival bracelets, write postcards, and draw pictures to include in their care packages. These packages will then be shipped overseas through the organization Operation Gratitude. The list of items needed will be emailed to those who sign up. The challenge is on! Let’s see how many care packages Inspire families can donate!
Nov. 20th: Friendsgiving Feast

Come join us as we celebrate Charlie Brown style with each other at our Friendsgiving feast! Bring food to share and donate to the Orange County Rescue Mission! We will have food, fun, and fellowship together. The list of items needed will be emailed to those who sign up.

Nov. 5th: Operation Gratitude Adventure Day

Come show your support for our military and join Community Connections teachers and friends for this special day.
We will have Veterans presenting, an opportunity to write letters of thanks and encouragement to our troops, and make paracord bracelets that will be sent to Operation Gratitude.
Please bring any extra candy you may have to support Candy For The Troops and Operation Gratitude as well.

Nov. 13th: IMPACT Day @ Bolsa Chica Wetlands
Bolsa Chica Wetlands

Making an impact in our community! We will learn about the wetlands through a guided hike and help remove invasive plants.
Carpooling is encouraged. Overflow parking at the beach available.

Please join us as we celebrate our wonderful country and remember all the Veteran’s who have provided freedom! We will have a patriotic presentation and veteran appreciation activities. We look forward to celebrating our great country together!
Nov. 13th: IMPACT Day Rootbeer Float Social
Rowntree Gardens Senior Living Community

Come serve and enjoy a rootbeer social with the residence at Rowntree Gardens Senior Living Community. This will be a wonderful time to serve an older generation and bring smiles to their faces! The residence love when young people come to be apart of their days!
Plan to arrive at 2:30 to help make rootbeer floats and present our veteran’s day letters to the men and women within the community.
*May not be suitable for younger siblings since we will be serving and need to be respectful of the people within the senior community.

Join us as we celebrate Friendsgiving Charlie Brown style! We will have a Charlie Brown Feast, make placemats, and enjoy watching the A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving. It will be a fun, festive morning!

All Teens and Parents are welcome to a free annual Family Night at Saddleback Community College. Refreshments provided by Saddleback College Culinary Arts. Nov. 22nd: MS/HS Pacific Marine Mammal Rescue Event

Calling all Middle School and High School Marine Mammal lovers to experience the sea breeze in Laguna Beach at the Pacific Marine Mammal Rescue center. Learn how they rescue marine mammals and nurse them back to health in order to give them a second chance at life and what you can do to help.

Reminders
- Parents - CC Events are not drop-off nor are the CC staff responsible for supervising students at these events. Parents are responsible for providing supervision of their children for every Community Connection activity, event and field trip.
- Nut Aware - Please be aware we may have students with allergies - please bring nut-free snacks and food with you.
- Sick Children - We know no one wants to miss our gatherings, but keeping ill students at home protects everyone, including those with fragile immune systems. Thank you for not spreading germs.
