Intro to Islam
Islam is a monotheism religion that believes in the god of Allah. The followers are called Muslims. They go to Mosque to pray and there worship leader is Imam who is the prayer leader that reads them their holy book ,the Qu'ran. Their common holy sites are Mecca, Medina, and Jerusalem. The five pillars of faith are Shahada – faith, Sadat – prayer, Zakat – charity, Siyam – fasting during Ramadan, Hajj –pilgrimage to the city of Mecca once in lifetime. Islam's common sects are Shi'i and Sunni. Shi'i believes mostly in theocracy and Sunni is the largest sect. The Sabbath is Friday prayers at Mosque. The six beliefs are god, prophets sent by gods, angels, day of judgement, holy books, and the divine decree. Ramadan celebrates Allah giving a message to Muhammad and Eid al Fitr celebrates the end of Ramadan by saying thanks, food, gifts, and family.
Islam's Symbol
This symbol is a representation for Islam.
Mosque
Mosque is Islam's place of worship.
Imam
Imam is the worship leader.
The Qur'ran
The Qur'ran is the holy book in Islam.
Ramadan
This is a celebration when Allah(god) gives a message to Muhammad.
Eid al Fitr
It celebrates the end of Ramadan and people say thanks, give gifts, eat food, and they celebrate with family.
Jerusalem
This is a holy city in Islam. The dome of the rock is in Jerusalem for Muslims.
Five Pillars of Faith
The five pillars of faith are:
- Shahada – faith
- Salat – prayer
- Zakat – charity
- Siyam – fasting during Ramadan
- Hajj –pilgrimage to the city of Mecca at least once in lifetime

The religious figure to Islam, Christianity, and Judaism is God of Abraham. The view of God that is common to all the three religions is monotheistic because they all believe in one god.
