Rosa Parks Journal
Week of February 1st
Moving Forward......
"The function of education is to teach one to think intensively and to think critically. Intelligence plus character – that is the goal of true education." -Martin Luther King Jr.
Black History Month, or National African American History Month, is an annual celebration of achievements by Black Americans and a time for recognizing the central role of African Americans in U.S. history. Since 1976, every U.S. president has officially designated the month of February as Black History Month. With that being said let's use this time to share the many contributions that were made by African Americans with our students. If you are planning on any special related activities with your class, please let me know. Also don't forget that each morning, we will be reading our "Who Am I", and students can bring responses to the cafeteria during lunch time. Use this time to continue to motivate our students that they one day can become a part of history...
