District 109 Community Update
May 14th, 2021
A Message From Mike: Relationships Matter
109 community,
Relationships are the cornerstone of any successful organization. I want to get to know you. I want to learn more about the role you play and the unique talents you bring to this community.
I’ve spent a lot of my first few weeks here meeting with various groups and following a management practice called “managing by walking around.” I’ve made it a point to be in every building multiple times, meeting our staff and students. I’ve thoroughly enjoyed getting to honor some of our longest-tenured teachers, delivering them a gift for their years of service, sometimes with their kids in the room, which is the best.
We have a lot of work ahead of us, but we’re all in this for a common purpose, and that is to do the best for the children of this community. This begins with the strength of relationships, and I look forward to meeting you.
-Mike

COVID News Update -- No Change On Masks
MASKS STILL REQUIRED ON 109 GROUNDS
Thursday afternoon, the CDC released new guidance that eases mask-wearing restrictions for fully vaccinated people in both indoor and outdoor settings. We are consulting with the Illinois State Board of Education, Lake County Health Department, and Illinois Department of Public Health on what the guidance specifically means for schools. Until we get additional clarification from them, we are not changing the standing requirement that masks are to be worn on District 109 grounds.
ILLINOIS ENTERING THE "BRIDGE PHASE" BETWEEN 4 AND 5 TODAY
