PARENT-TEACHER-STUDENT CONFERENCES ARE NEXT WEEK
Our Ridgeway teachers have been busy preparing to meet with you. Conference time passes quickly, and there are a few things that parents can do to prepare as well:
- Watch for a reminder email from SignUp Genius two days before your conference.
- Be prompt or early for your assigned conference time.
- Please bring your child to the conference.
- In advance, write down any questions you have.
- Help the teacher limit your conversation to 15 minutes. The teacher will want to give the next family their time as well.
- Visit the Book Fair in the media center. No purchase necessary, all students get to put their name in a drawing for free book boxes.

A Message from Ms. Roettgen - Speech Language Pathologist
World Hearing Day is March 3! Here are some tips for safe listening from the World Health Organization.
- Keep the volume down. Listen to personal audio devices (e.g., phones, tablets) at a volume level below 60% of the maximum and use carefully fitted, noise-canceling headphones.
- Protect your ears from loud sounds- wear earplugs in noisy venues and move away from loudspeakers.
- Limit time spent engaging in noisy activities- take listening breaks and limit daily use of personal audio devices.
- Monitor listening levels-. Use smartphone apps to monitor sound exposure and choose devices with built-in safe listening features
- Get regular hearing check-ups. Check your hearing using validated apps, such as hearWHO, and seek professional advice if you have any signs of hearing loss.

Big Drawing
Each year for FunDay we offer an incentive prize for Big Drawing ticket sales. This prize is always donated by a family or other generous donor. We are currently looking for a donor or several donors to go in together to donate this prize. What kind of prize? Often it has been electronic, such as an iPad, Sony playstation, Nintendo switch, Xbox. But it could also be a 1 night stay to Great Wolf Lodge or season tickets to Six Flags or another family experience. The value is traditionally around $300. If you are interested or have questions please contact Amanda Fues at amandasfues@gmail.com
