Riviera restaurant will be changing ownership. Many of you have bought gift cards for Riviera through SCRIP. Riviera gift cards must be used by the end of January '23. Please be sure to use them soon!!

St. John Bosco Prayer Initiative - January 29-February 4, 2023

CATHOLIC SCHOOLS WEEK * JAN 29TH - FEB 4TH

CATHOLIC SCHOOLS WEEK IS ALMOST HERE!! Below are the fun activities we have planned for each day of the week.


Catholic Schools Week line up- Monday, Jan. 30-Friday, Feb. 3


Monday - Sports/College Day - Students may wear their favorite sports or team/college colors with appropriate sayings or logos. It is dress down- jeans (no rips or tears),athletic/sweatpants or leggings (with appropriate length top)


Tuesday - Crayon Day - Wear clothes all the same color (exception for shoes)


Wednesday - Country/Country Club Day - Choose what to dress in, country attire ( like a cowboy or girl/farm living) or stylish/fancy.


Thursday - Crazy Hair/Hat Day with gym uniform or blue and white. Pep Assembly in the gym at 2:00 pm.


Friday - Dress Up Day - Appropriate dress up clothing, as we will be going to church. No tennis shoes or crocs!! Ice Cream Social in the afternoon.



Penny Wars- During this week we will also be competing in class penny wars. The proceeds will benefit St. Jude’s Children's Hospital.


The class with the most points will win a dress down day, pizza party and a special recess.


The class with the most actual money will win a dress down day.

Rules

Each classroom has its own collection container. GAIN POINTS for your classroom by adding pennies and bills to your classroom’s collection bag. LOWER THE POINTS for the other classroom teams by adding silver coins to their collection bag. The classroom with the most points at the end of the week will win a free recess!

All proceeds go to the St. Jude Children’s Hospital.

ACADEMIC OLYMPICS - FEB 11TH

Academic Olympics is being hosted here at Holy Cross this year. This is a fun opportunity, for our 5th-8th graders, to show their skills in forensics, math, religion and problem solving. Check with your students teacher to find out how to get things started.

MUFFINS WITH MOM FUN!!

Thank you PTO for a wonderful breakfast with our kiddos and their moms, grandmas, aunts and mom-figures. It was a great way for our students to start their day!

Theology of the Body (or TOB)

Our students will be learning Theology of the Body along side their Religion course work. Please see attached for more information, click HERE!

HOME PLATE 2023 - WITH THE DETROIT TIGERS - SIGN UP BY JANUARY 31ST!!

Please join us this year on June 10th for our annual Home Plate Detroit event!


This annual outing is a Christian outreach event that includes a baseball game between the Detroit Tigers and the Arizona Diamondbacks, an on-field baseball clinic, and the athletes speaking about their careers in professional sports and their faith in Jesus Christ.


This year’s speakers are pitchers Matthew Boyd and Will Vest, outfielder Kerry Carpenter, retired Tiger Frank Tanana, and retired Detroit Lion Jason Hanson.


Last year’s event was a huge success. We had a great time participating in this community adventure sharing the day’s events, lots of laughs, and a great time making memories together!

CAMP - FEB. 13th-16th

Camp is just around the corner and must be fully paid for by January 31st. If you need to know your balance, feel free to call or email the office (810-765-3591 or school@holycrossonline.net). Packets with additional information (packing list, etc) and required forms went home! Please return any required paperwork to the school ASAP.


If for any reason you can no longer attend camp please let the office know ASAP. Thank you!

DO YOU NEED A TRI-FOLD DISPLAY BOARD?

With the science fair and other presentation opportunities coming up students will need tri-fold display boards. We have them here in the office for $4.00 each. If interested please stop by the office.

VG's Receipts: Thanks to everyone who continues to save them for us. Please keep saving the entire VG’s receipts, including the “Direct Your Dollars” paragraph. (Sorry--“e-receipts” are not accepted.) We’ll continue to collect receipts until the store tells us to stop! Drop off receipts at the school office or at the rectory.
