The Inside Scoop of What's Really Happening in Your Town
LOCAL VILLAGE'S POSSESSIONS BURNED BY REDSKINS
In a small coastal village on our beloved island, red skin troops invaded the area asking for a list of all civilians who called the town home. The troops were satisfied until they later found a mysterious name written in the sand that was not included on the list. The red skins accused the villagers of harboring a rebel soldier. However, the civilians stated that the name, "Pip", was no more than a character from the novel The Great Expectations. After failure by the citizens to prove Pip's identity, the red skin troops burned everything of value to the citizens to dust.
Effects on Citizens
Reaction to Burning
The citizens seemed to be in shock by the burning of all they own. However, they displayed blank faces and did not shed tears. We noticed on the scene one woman in particular who kept her eyes closed shut throughout the invasion.
The Search is On
The civilians were busy searching through their possessions before and after the burning for this mysterious book and the character Pip within the pages. All hope, however, was lost when the possessions caught flame. The disappointment was obvious all over the faces.
Empty Homes & Empty Hearts
The effect on the villagers after they saw their empty homes was drastic. They had pure heartbreak. Those who were lucky enough to find something the red skins missed were able to ignite their own small fire of hope within their selves.
TWO BABIES FROM LOCAL VILLAGE NOW DEAD FROM MALARIA
It was recently investigated that the total deaths from malaria on our island has recently risen two more. Two babies from a local coastal village have now been pronounced dead. These weren't the first deaths by malaria in Bougainville, however. It is now the most common instigator of death in the area.
People are being affected all over the area by this drastic event. Parents are now taking more extreme measures to ensure the safety of their families. Net productions are at an increase which has allowed more and more people to leave the war for more practical work. Although drastic, the effects of this event on people aren't all bad.
