TITAHI BAY INTERMEDIATE NOTICE
TERM 2 UPDATE - Friday 29th April 2022
Kia ora TBI whānau,
I hope that you have all enjoyed the wonderful weather that we have had over the holidays.
Many of you would have driven past our school and noticed the amazing amount of building work that is going on at school. So Term 2 is going to be a bit different due to various areas being closed off to ensure safety for all. Areas will be restricted but I am sure that we will all manage the changes as they unfold.
The administration area has been 'wrapped' due to low level asbestos being found in the flat roof section which is being removed in order for it to be re-pitched. This will be completed before we begin on Monday morning.
We also had a water heating pipe burst in the Principal's office over the long weekend which has flooded the entire administration area causing a lot of damage to carpets/flooring and furniture.
Office and Principal's Office
As of Monday we will be operating from the temporary Cube that is located at the front entrance to the gate. This is still in the process of being set up due to the flooding forcing us to move before our scheduled time. We ask for your patience as we get power, data and phone connected to this area during the first week.
It continues to be very important that if you come on site you will need to come to the temporary office to sign in as there are a number of contractors on-site.
Classroom Access
As the scaffolding for the administration block reaches across to the front block of the school, all students need to walk around the end of Block 1 (water tank end) to access the classrooms and playground area. So please remind your child to walk around the end of the block using the concrete areas to keep their feet dry for the day.
Mask Wearing under Orange Light Setting
New Zealand has moved into the Orange Light Setting under the Covid Protection framework. The guidance from the Ministry of Education is that masks remain an important tool to reduce the spread of Covid-19 and public health strongly encourage their continued use.
As there are still a number of active Covid-19 cases in our community, our team have made the decision, for the safety of our students and staff, that face masks are to be worn indoors, except for those that are exempt. In making this decision it has also included a range of factors such as students and staff who are immunocompromised.
This decision will continually be reviewed and we will update you in due time. We would like to thank you all for your continued support with this.
Thank you all for your support and understanding during this exciting time. Enjoy the weekend, we look forward to welcoming all of our students back for Term 2.
