Thank you!!
Ms. Fox and Ms. Theresa
We are privileged to get to work with your children this year. We want them to be successful in all ways, so please call or email me anytime to discuss any issues or ask questions. It takes a village to raise a child, please let us be a trusted part of your village!

A Look at Our Week
Our "Museum of 100 Things" is most impressive: We have collections of cheerios, sight words, beans and buttons hanging on our wall! I'm glad that so many of you were able to watch, and help your child, count out 100 objects.
At the end of the week progress reports will be sent home, keeping you informed of your child's academic and social/emotional progress. Some of you will also receive an invitation for a conference with me, to discuss how you can support your child's academic growth at home.
One of my favorite times this week was during Writing Time. We read a book called "Martin's Big Words" and learned about Dr. King. A lot of your children had already heard about him, and it was a pleasure discussing his contributions to America with them. We talked about how Dr.King used his words, his education, and his love to inspire others (like Rosa Parks) to demand change. This week we will be researching George Washington and Abraham Lincoln, in honor of President's Day.
In Math, we will be finishing off our unit on 3-D shapes, and moving our focus on to addition, subtraction and the Number System. In Fundations, we will be transitioning from decoding CVC words to writing them down. I hope that you are seeing a love of reading developing in your child. Their confidence is growing daily as readers and writers, and I will be sending home all of their writing this week for them to share with you. I will also send home three sheets of sight words. These are all the words that have been sent home so far, so please review them with your child. You can cut them out, and play games with them to aid memorization.
I am delighted to announce that we will be taking our first virtual field trip on Friday, to aid our understanding of Tomie de Paola's "Strega Nona" and "Big Anthony" stories. I look forward to reporting to you next week, how it went. This is my first foray with webcams, and I'm challenging myself in honor of Digital Learning Day on Thursday!
